[via LGF]: The The Cleveland Plain Dealer ran an article on this. Now here's a brief intro to the ISM (from the paper):
Now as anyone with even an iota of Clue knows, the ISM is very pro-terrorist and defends them. The ISM is also the former home of Rachel "Pancake" Corrie. (Three cheers to the bulldozer!!!) For more info on 'em check out the new blog "ISM Central" The group also says that it's not "anti-semetic"--that's Bullshit to the nth degree. They protect anti-semetic terrorist swine. What is even MORE dissapointing is that the Ohio State Hillel isn't taking action against the ISM SOBs.
IMHO, The Hillel at the school should condemn such a group holding a conference. And major props in advance to those who are gonna respond to the terror loving SOBs. More power to all you pro-Israel activists (note: some of these people are personal friends of mine) Despite the Hillel's waffling, I have more faith that the OSU Chabad will be out there demonstrating FOR ISRAEL As an Ohio resident (and taxpayer), I'm mighty pissed off at the University for hosting this conference--cause my tax dollars are gonna be spent subsidizing this anti-Israel and anti-American event. I encourage all people, even non-Ohio residents, to write to the state Governor Bob Taft (R) and tell him the truth about the ISM--and tell him how Ohio shouldn't be hosting these bastards. Please spread this message widely! Dennis Ross, former ambassador who worked on Middle East policy under two U.S. presidents... He's gonna be teaching a class called: "Ending Deadly Conflict" Read the rest of the press release So on today's orientation schedule are teach ins, which give new students a "taste" of what Brandeis profs have to offer. The topics available span a variety of areas, from the "science of happiness" to "Instant Messanging and Beyond" to "Newspapers and Analytical Thinking". Granted, many of the political ones have the traditional lefty bias, but one stands out in particular, one by the individual who is my faculty nemisis.
Now if that doesn't scream out academic bias, then I dunno what does. This teach in should be called "Asshatedness 101". Developing Story from Ha'aretz: Bomb explodes near home of Hezbollah official in eastern Lebanon Update: Apparently there were no terrorist casualties.....darn So today is when everyone else returns to campus (meaning more of my friends come back). This also means that the Clue-Quotient here at Brandeis will increase. He he. I'm off to go see some friends. Monday, August 25, 2003
From Ha'aretz: 04:06 U.S. and Saudi Arabia to launch joint task force to fight funding of terrorism The Saudis should just fess up already.... No, sadly not the Israelis, but rather the good 'ol USA has scored big time in their fight against the Taliban terrorist swine: 50 Taliban 'killed in US-led attack' Via the WaPo
I think Dean forgot to mention that he likes genocidal dictators in power, who also fund such organizations, and that he'd only take action against the Saudis were there a UN resolution. But seriously, the best thing this can do is push Bush to the right and make him crack down on the Saudis So about 875 new first-year and transfer students decended onto the Brandeis campus today. Biggest class ever! And as an orientation volunteer, I was up at 5:30 (6am Breakfast--mandatory) to help get cars/people onto campus. It was a long day, and I'm very sunburnt (ouch) Quite a few interesting stories from the day, including a crazy Israeli father, a mother who tried to set me up with her daughter. But I'm also tired as hell right now... And...this year's freshman class is much better looking than classes in years past (alas, there's no facebook) Sunday, August 24, 2003
Who doesn't want their order of dead terrorists done extra crispy?
Does that also come with a side of fries by any chance? Bonus: And to ogle over, pictures of a IAF Boeing AH-64A Apaches Some of my friends wasted money Some of my friends didn't finish the film, and are wasting time tonight watching it. Anyone have any good ideas to crash their "movie" enjoyment...I need my VRWC friends to return to campus. Saturday, August 23, 2003
This piece over at Fox Views expresses a lot of the background behind the liberal attitudes seen in a lot of journalism An excerpt:
'Nuff said President Bush has done the right thing and given Daniel Pipes a recess appointment to the USIP! YAY! Read the White House press release Friday, August 22, 2003
Got my new monitor this afternoon and therefore, I'm back! Unfortunately, due to time constraints (Services are at 6) I can't come back to full swing blogging yet. However, on the bright side, I hope to be able to blog tomorrow night. Thursday, August 21, 2003
[Typing on a suitemate's computer--mine is still broken]. For those Brandeis alumni out there, you may enjoy the following piece of news: Deroy (in Massell) is now a Co-ed dorm...I kid you not. All of Massell and North are First Years, East, Rosenthal and the Castle is for Sophmores, Ridgewood/Ziv and the new quad for Juniors, and Seniors have Ziv the new quad and the Mods. And RAs are now called "CAs" (Community Advisors) [only at Brandeis...] But the food still sucks Wednesday, August 20, 2003
Yes, I'm back at Brandeis. Problems though. Got my "worldy possesions" redilevered to me yesterday..and low and behold, one of the prongs n my monitor cable was broken :( Therefore, I don't have my computer. (I'm on a public terminal right now). So until I get a new monitor, I may be on a blogging hiatus :( Check back often, to see when I get back please :) Tuesday, August 19, 2003
There me a brief lull in posting here, because I'm heading back to the People's Republik of Taxachussets, home of Ted "Swimmer" Kennedy and John "French Looking" Kerry (who also served in Vietnam), today actually. I'm heading back to Brandeis for my senior year. So until I get my computer and other "worldy posessions" back from storage [hopefully today also], I'll be unable to blog till then. And on that note, I"m gonna drag my suitcases downstairs. Michael "Tub 'o lard' Moore's *spit* waste of film Sunday, August 17, 2003
So because of the blackout, I guess Dean's visit to Cleveland didn't get too much pre-arrival press. No loss there (if you ask me). But since he came to town....his not going to get away without a nice, through, FISKING (grin) Bush challenger Dean makes his case to local Democrats A Centrist? Centrist? According to what political barometer are you a frieking centrist?!?!?! You're socially far-far (far) left, you want socialist economic policies, are willing to sell out the Constitution to crap like the ICC and the UN, and that's centrist!?!?!?! And what are these "traditional democratic values"....the world may never know... "The way to beat George Bush is not to be like him, it's to give the 50 percent of Americans the reason to vote again," he said to the group braving a light rain as they stood in the back yard of lawyers Joel and Mary Jane Levin. You idiot. The more left you go, the more people you alienate. It's common sense you rool. Oh, and you're at an event sponsored by lawyers (nota bene: I'm not fond of lawyers). Oh yes, I forgot, the Dems love to pander to lawyers, especially the sleazy trial ones.
How much did this later event cost? Inquiring minds want to know...
And the difference between those two is......?
First group--you wasted your money. It could've been better used. Latter group--lay off the drugs (esp. the hallucinogens).
Queen "One Term" Jane (as she's referred to in these parts) is endorsing Denny? Ha! Wow...Queen Jane is really setting herself up for only one term--endorsing one (if not) the city's worst mayor...ever...
Shouldn't that read: Dean identifies himself as the Only Dem front runner who openly supported the Saddam regime and its support of terror Something like that.
By whose barometer? You're dragging it into the wacko-left area.
See earlier comments about Dean being a *spit* centrist *spit*
I'm having a hard time believing that...where's the proof? And by saying that Dean, you know you alienated some of your consituancy (the lefties against going after the Taliban).
The UN? The UN? (Laughing ass off). What has the UN successfully fixed? And let me paraphrase Dean's economic plan: raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes (the rest of the promises are simply empty). He's also a socialist economically, so remember that.
The President is doing both just fine (foriegn policy needs some work...w/ regards to Israel). And they love him in Crawford. Go back to Mountpilliar Dean. It looks like the folks in the Green Party want to foil the Dems chances in 2004 (and indirectly assist Bush and the GOP) This is all while the Dems continue to ceede the Nat'l security issue to the GOP (some things never change) [hat tip to Matt M.] And they're also being caught in some lies. And the Dems have also been spouting off about the whole energy blackout topic...too bad that they're gonna be caught in a trap there too...sometimes for beeing too "green". Here's what Rush and Matt Margolis have to say on the topic. (I was gonna blog on this, but the power outage prevented me from doing so) Speaking of the Dems, here's a great theory...If it turns out that the outage indeed started here in Ohio (on Thursday), I think Hillary (who was in town Wed.) may have used too much power to feed her ego and thus started the domino effect...hehehe I went to my local 7-11 today, and lo and behold, there was a very depressing sight. Both slurpee machines were down and out of service because of the current water conditions. This is a crisis! Someone call the Federal Goverment! What good is a 7-11 without slurpees?!?!? (or at least won't they make sure that water service is back to normal?) Aside from the Blackout...what a week it's been in Cleveland. First, on Wed, we had the Second, Howard "I'm a centrist" Dean came to town yesterday. More on that later. Heh. The Zionist Infidels...can't live with 'em can't live w/o 'em... According to Ma'ariv, [note: Article is in Hebrew]
Heh. Those SOBs were drinking Zionist beer....beer of the infidels. Poetic Justice. So I came home from work yesterday, and the power was out. We were supposively in one of those "rolling blackouts" from 5-7PM. Yeah, well, if I wanted rolling blackouts, I'd be living in Northern California under the rule of Grayout Davis. Long story short, there was no end to this rolling blackout, until about 2am (I think). But now the power is back, but it's still not safe to drink the water! Argh! I'm starting to wanna blame someone for this outage...should I choose the communists, the socialists, or the liberals (wait, what's the difference?) Friday, August 15, 2003
From the Wash Times (and Bill Gertz none the less)
Two major lessons: 1) STFU lefties, the mobile labs wern't for weather balloons. 2) Al-Queda was stunned? Good. They shouldn't have messed with the US! Sorry about the lack of blogging yesterday, but like NYC, NJ, NY, PA, MI and Ontario, Northern Ohio lost power (and water). My house got power back at ~4:35AMish...but we're currently sans water (it'll be 12 hours we're told). I'm back at the lab right now where I was when we lost power, and oh boy, do I have stories to tell. Okay, but most importantly, I'm okay, as is my family. More blogging later Wednesday, August 13, 2003
(Hat tip: Hootinan) So at some little school in the SF area, there's a new new bachelors or masters program at New College with a concentration in, get this, "activism and social change".. Now many are acting somewhat suprised by this announcement, but not me. Would someone like to explain to me how this differs from oh, lets say a Sociology major at many schools? Or better yet, let's look at Brandeis. We've got a program [minor] and masters program Peace/Conflict and Coexistance Studies (I think the masters is in "Int'l Coexistance"). Look at the courses for that program: PAX 110a International Nonviolent Initiatives SOC 112b Social Class and Social Change SOC 153a The Sociology of Empowerment SOC 161a Society, State, and Power: The Problem of Democracy Then there's "Social Justice and Social Policy" (go to the site for the full description) Courses for this include: (full descriptions) POL 159a Politics of the Modern Welfare State HIST163a Socialism and Communism in American History PHIL 20a Democracy and Disobedience ECON 133a Economics of Discrimination and Inequality HS 110a Paradox of Wealth and Poverty Now tell me again how this isn't an activism major? [Note: My appologies for the inadvertant omission of the hat tip earlier] After all, he ordered swiss cheese on a philly cheese steak. (idiot) It is with great pain that I report that the Junior senator from NY, Hillary Clinton was in my suburb today, a mere 3-4 miles from my house (and where I work). (cue: gagging noises) She was in town to sign 900 copies (no more than 900) of her ghostwritten book, which is a waste of dead tree. Just knowing that she was in Shaker Heights makes me feel icky. But not as icky as the time a few years ago when then Pres Clinton gave a speech at the University down the street from where I live, and his motorcade came to the top of my block. Too close for comfort. This has been a public service announcement Tuesday, August 12, 2003
Should this story be true, it's great news, and a great victory! President Bush is planning a recess appointment of Daniel Pipes to the USIP. This angers the extremist muslim groups, the loony left, and Sen. Ted "Swimmer" Kennedy...ha. Idiotarian Sheila Jackson Lee (Idiot-TX), on a trip in Israel is quoted as saying:
Wow....perhaps she is starting to get some common sense (I'm not keeping my fingers crossed though). So everyone remember Jenin 'I'll crawl on my knees to the WH and appologize' Garafalo--yeah, she's one of those hollywood appeasement types. Not only has she failed to eat crow (or at least live up to the promise she made O'reilly). Now she's back saying assinine things! She doesn't quit! This time she's blaming the Conservative controlled media...(naming Rush, Hannity and Newsmax as the culprits) What's the charge? "marginalize presidential hopeful Howard Dean". Oh yes, the VRWC media engine is marginalizing the far-left candidate Dean. Hey isn't that the same guy who appeared on the cover of both Time and Newsweek in the same week? Jenin also says: ""The proof that [Howard Dean] is a real threat is how much Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity's radio show picks on him - or NewsMax.com,"" A threat? To whom? To the Democratic party (as an organization) yes. To GWB--no. To Republicans--no (instead he makes for the good subject of a joke). Oh, and Newsmax is saying that they haven't mentioned Dean much... Jenin follows up by calling Fox News:
Oh no! The evil cable news station--lets panic and start proclaiming that dissent is being squashed Come on Jenin--just because they caught you in your story doesn't mean that they're the great evil. Congrats on maintaining your status as an idiotarian asshat Jenin My little brother is sick again, and as such, I'm gonna have my hands full here at home. My brother seems to have some illness/virus where once a year (usually in Jan-Mar) he gets a bad fever, nausea and just gets zapped of energy all together. We thought we'd dodged the bullet this year...but we were wrong. On the good side, his 102 degree fever is back down to the ~98 degree range. So I just wanted to give advance warning if my blogging slows a bit over the next couple of days Haven't you read the guest fisking over at the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler? It's by The Imperial Font of Knowledge™ himself, LC George Turner, who swings the Imperial ClueByFour™ like Ted Williams swung the baseball bat. Go read the great Unleashing of Clue™ now! The Army's 3rd ID 2nd Brig. Combat Team has returned from Iraq--after successfully storming Baghdad! They deserve a parade (as do all the other troops who've been deployed) Monday, August 11, 2003
Yeah, I'm blogging from the lab. I'm in between experiments. Right now I'm waiting to clean some DNA, but I'm just waiting for someone else to finish the process first (so I don't have to wait at each step along the way). Besides DNA cleaning, I dunno yet what else i'll be doing. via US News & World Report:
Talk about Monday morning quarterbacking. I doubt that he would've instituted the idea of cockpit doors being hardened. The old report (I think it was by the Gore Commission actually--can someone double check that) made notes of this. But I really don't think Nader gave an iota of interest to it. And how would he have gotten Osama? A bribe? LMAO! The Taliban wern't gonna take money for UBL, hell, they saw their country destroyed rather than turining over UBL. Plus why would nader even have gone after the SOB? Congrats Ralph, you're now a tuesday morning QB Via the WaPo (and Drudge)
She should pay the fines, as should Sean Penn and the other useful idiots who supported Saddam and visited Iraq in defiance of the law.
Hey, that's 20 useful idiots for Saddam who deserve to be fined. 20 x $10,000 = $200,000. Our goverment could use that cash to decrease this years defecit (even if it is just a minor fix). Or give that money to an Armed Forces scholarship fund and/or charity And wait, $10,000 is a minimum? Bill 'em and the sponsoring organization(s) even more!
She's now become a candidate for leftist idiot of the day. Question: Iraq was building up weapons, so why'd you choose to defend that place? And if you won't contribute money, don't you pay taxes at least?
The Gov't, if there's someone with Clue
Hey, the Gov't is actually doing something right!
Idiot...after all, wasn't Saddm's regime "just"? Sunday, August 10, 2003
Today's really been a slow day news wise, so there isn't much to blog about in that regard. I went to a Brandeis get together thingy today, where some of us current students (and alums) met incoming Brandeis first year students. There's a good size crowd coming to 'deis from Cleveland this year. That's good. A nice time was had by all...it was very low key. What else did I do today...went to the store, did a lot of laundry, took a 6 mile bike ride...read the paper (including a really assinine liberal article from the AP). Read some articles from Cell, Neuron, Journal of Neuroscience ...all sorts of good stuff. And well, that was my day sadly enough... Though this comes from more of a parody (perhaps liberal) site, I think there's many in the VRWC who'd line up to get this poster:
(click image for larger picture) Novak is reporting that there'll be a release of info in Mid-September The UK is set to produce new evidence and from Instapundit, comes this article
Very interesting, no? Sorry, I was sick in my bed for most of the day. I was woken up to go to synagogue, but I had a horrible headache which lasted most of the day, and took a lot of Advil to finally defeat. Then I had to help dad on the computer this evening. Nonetheless, I'm back blogging! There was a good opinion piece in the Plain Dealer today (sadly, not online yet), that the Democrats current strategy, of using anger, isn't helping them very much. (Sounds like what Rush limbaugh says), no? But the author is right on the mark. I'll link to it when the piece gets posted online Friday, August 08, 2003
Yes, it's that time again, to see what some of Brandeis' liberals (faculty and/or students are up to). Today's liberal is former Sec. of Labor during the Clinton Admin., a (former) candidate for the democratic nomination to be Mass. Governor and Professor of Social and Economic Policy, Robert Reich Well, today we're spared an examination and a fisking....thanks to pundit and author Larry Elder (bio), who takes Reich to task over his remarks on Sean Hannity's radio show. Elder in his latest column "North Korea blinks, but Bush gets little credit" It's a great piece, go read it! Now! Today the Plain Dealer ran one of Lielk's editorials...what a refreshing read that was. They should run 'em more often! Israel eliminated two more Hamas terrorist swine, and their bomb factory this morning. Keep up the good work IDF! And President Bush is reported to have said: " 23:03 Bush: Construction of West Bank separation fence likely to hold up creation of Palestinian state" Well then Israel, keep building! Only faster now (he he he) From the London Times: WMD team ‘has new evidence for dossier The US-led team hunting for evidence of Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction programme has now found enough “proof” to produce a dossier of its findings next month Thursday, August 07, 2003
I've been out of the house for 16 straight hours today, so I didn't get a chance to blog. It's a shame, cause there was good blogging stuff today. Maybe I'll just throw up some links and thoughts. Wednesday, August 06, 2003
The following is from a non-Brandeis (emphasis on that point) a Senior Fellow of a "Peace Institute" (note: can someone please explain to me what the hell "Peace Studies are anyway?!?!"), who wrote a letter to the NYT (no guarantee it'll be printed).
Sorry, no link to Gordon's 8/1 piece. I'm too lazy to look it up right now (sorry). The Iraq WMD truth will soon be revealed, or that's what its sounding like from David Kay. Also Rich Lowery has heard some similar news which also sounds a lot like what Dekba is saying. And for goodness sakes, drop the whole "weaponsgate" bullshit.
It's also possible that they were moved to Syria-Lebanon, or that the US has found 'em, or that they're still hidden. And it's rather obvious that Hussein had plans on reconstituting his WMD. Why else would a centrifuge for nuclear materials be buried in someones back yard? Thus war was the right thing to do, but the rush was not necessary and hurt us otherwise. Yes, the war was the right thing to do (I'm not going to rehash all the arguments). And what rush are you talking about?!?! 14 months is anything but a "rush". What we did to the Taliban was "rushed"....asshat. Oh, everyday we waited, not only did the human rights problems continue, but terrorists got money and funds. Accepting Mr. Gordon's scenario, my disagreement is that even though Hussein certainly might have restarted Iraq's WMD program, that is all speculation, even if planning documents are found. Wrong! Documents with details of planning plus the corroborating (sp?) + testimony of other Ba'athis regime scum about how the program was to be restarted (we've had reports of this since Gulf War I), it's not really speculation. One can't predict the future--circumstances change. (Digs out crystal ball), wern't you in the crowd that said if sanctions were lifted things would improve? Huh? Isn't that a prediction of the future? If we were to attack any country contemplating developing WMDs, we are in for considerable military action. Besides the fact that would give us an excuse to knock off France, our plan isn't to attack any country contemplating WMDs. Saddam had a program, had developed WMDs, used them, and had stocks unaccounted for. Quite a difference, no? And we are now dealing non-militarily with other countries possessing or likely developing WMDs. We did a song and dance routine with Iraq for 12 damn years. With N. Korea, the military option is still on the table for starters. But NK also supposively already has the nukes, and missiles which can hit the US mainland, along with S. Korea, Japan, China, Russia, and maybe Australia (not sure). China also have a lot of control over N Korea and crazy Kim Jong Il, so they're moves may be succesfull in terms of "coercive diplomacy". Why what were we supposed to do with Iraq? Send Carter over and sell 'em 2 nuclear reactors? I think not. Given the latter, how can we justify attacking a sovereign country not even possessing WMD at the time There were many reasons to, even w/o the WMD part (which the jury is still out on by the way). even if they still have the technology? Because when the sanctions that you wanted lifted are removed, Saddam will return to his old tricks. It's history repeating itself, duh! Saw the following article on Druge: Ashcroft Set For 'Victory Act' Campaign... Well, I've gotta hand it to Ashcroft (or someone else at the DoJ), they're quite good with the acronyms. USA PATRIOT (Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism ) was clever. But VICTORY Act (Vital Interdiction of Criminal Terrorist Organizations Act) may not be the best title. We have yet to win the War on Terror, and it's gonna be a long and drawn out battle. So perhaps 'Victory' isn't the best name for it. But I do give 'em points for creativity. So what's gonna be in this law? Apparently:
Number 1 makes perfect sense, but it'll likely face a 1st Ammendment challenge (State-Religion). I'm skeptical about number 2, for obvious reasons. Number 3, if a warrant is required, then I'm okay with it (I see it as a wiretap). Number 4 I'm also inclined to agree with. Why? Because al ot, and I mean a lot of drug money is funneled to terrorist groups, so this is a good step. But I'm gonna wait to hear some more coverage about this one. Are bloggers destined to become the next Rush Limbaughs? Not so, says this article from The Hill And speaking of Rush, he's in this weeks issue of Sports Illustrated. Now we constantly hear people on TV saying that American society is eroding....blah blah blah...you know the shtick First off, there's a new TV Show on UPN called "The Mullets"....this show, by virtue of its title has sucessfully jumped the shark before being aired. Now if that wasn't bad enough, more people are looking to get the white-trash, hockey cut, 80s hair do (which is still popular in some parts of Canada). A New Jersey prison guard is selling mullet wigs for $20/each, and supposivly they're flying out of stock rapidly! Now we could easily dismiss this as something that just came from New Jersey, but if this is a national trend, we have something to fear (something to fear more than Frank J. fears monkeys). Hopefully, this is just a very, very short term fad, and it doesn't represent American society taking a turn for the worse. First off, welcome to all the visitors here! A bit of personal blogging. Today was a very, very, very slow day at work. There wasn't that much for me to do, so I sat around bored most of the day, surfed the web, etc. Tomorrow there should be more to do (or so I hope). I know that I'm supposed to be purifying DNA plasmids (among other things I do in the neuroscience lab). Thank goodness Jerry Springer has called off his Senate campaign. Even though he had no chance to begin with, I was getting sick of all the hoopla. I think I"m gonna blog on a few news stories, then I'll present today's loony-crackhead-lefty. This just in! ANSWER (about them), the anti-semitic, anti-American, pro-communist, anti-Israel, pro-socialism, pro-Castro, pro-genocidal dictator organization is at it again! They're holding a rally on October 25th in our nation's Capital! Washington DC! Now let's go to their email: The protest in DC on october 25th may be the most important protest since Vietnam. In your mind you fuckwits...maybe. But to the rest of us, no. If we can't take 2 days out of our schedule Seeming that you're not really doing anything else.... to fight for our civil rights Civil rights? As in civil rights that MLK Jr. fought for? Last time I checked those wern't in any danger. jobs Are you gonna be protesting for more tax cuts to give buisnesses money to hire people? Oh wait, you people are Marxists. Never mind, you just want to tax us out of our minds. Thus reducing the amount of jobs. healthcare Oh boy! Socialized medicine! You know how good that is! Just look at Canada's system...where all the doctors are leaving to come practice in the US. troops who are getting killed daily Remember, you don't support the troops. You never did. You hate the troops. You encouraged them to shoot their officers. You supported the ENEMY. You continue to aid the bad guys. You like them getting killed. The troops probably don't like you either (and they shouldn't) then what good are we? You wastes of oxygen....no good at all. And that's being polite. It's not just Iraq, that’s under attack It's no longer under attack you Robert Fisk and Ted Rall worshiping tools. every American citizen is under attack By whom? Al-Qaeda? Hamas? Hezzbollah? By ANSWER? Communists? I want to kick all their asses. by a government that creates legislation like the “Patriot Act” and NAFTA What? What are you smoking this week? Crackheaded moonbats. which favors huge multi-national corporations instead of us, our parents and our children Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! NAFTA benefits us all. Ever heard of basic econ and the value of Free Trade? No? Well then, we'd like to present you with pieces by Lady Thatcher and Ronaldus Magnimus (that's Ronald Reagan)! Look at NAFTA, according to Washington, it would “open up the borders" and make it easier to do business with other countries NAFTA--NORTH AMERICAN Free Trade Agreement. The other countries include Mexico and Canada. You idiots. other countries for the good of "the American people"- of course. Free Trade benefits all! Except that we've been swamped with illegal immigrants coming in through open borders...but that's another issue, but a force harming our economy. But Free Trade improves economies. Read Lady Thatcher's "Statecraft". In the past three years legislation like NAFTA has cost "the Americans people" over 3 million jobs Wrong! It's been the Clinton tax increases, the burst of the dot-com bubble, the Sept. 11th attacks, the recession that began in 2000 that has cost jobs. Not NAFTA. You fuckheads. And it's The "American People". Who’s benefiting? It sure as hell isn’t “the American people”, who are losing jobs to other countries like no other time in history Welcome to the new world. How would you change things? Huh? You've got to make things more advantageous for buisness to operate over here. The real benefactor is the richer, more profitable corporation that pays a foreign worker 1 dollar instead of a US worker 10, 20 or even $60. Welcome to capitalism. And you're grossly exagerating the facts too you know. What's your solution to the problem....oh wait, I know, it's Communism! Go to Washington DC on October 25th and rail against these motherfuckers who wave a flag in our face Don't you call me a Motherfucker you motherfucking assholes. I wave the flag out of pride for this country. I love the USA! and drive a stake in our back. Looks like we've been successful then! But wouldn't you rather have the barrel of a _________ (insert your favorite firearm here) in your back? Yeah, that would be a lot cooler. What a day it's been. So welcome to all the people who've arrived at the blog from Emperor Misha's Blog. It's great to have you all visiting! Please feel free to make comments regarding what you think would be a better quote for Terry McAulife. I've come across a big, gigantic, huge, enormous, piece of exciting intellegence from the loony, communist loving left, that I plan on blogging about soon. I can't wait to Fisk it apart! A few brief stories which deserve links. Debka is reporting, that a lot of supplies into Iraq are coming from the Country of the Zionist Infidels (that's Israel). One of the most sought after commodieties (sp?): Beer (or in Hebrew Beerah). It's a very interesting piece, which sounds like it could be very true. And Justice Bader-Ginsburg comes out openly to announce that the SCOTUS is relying on Int'l norms and beliefs, and not just the constitution in making decisions. It's absurd! I'm gonna defer to Rush to rip it apart. Now to work on my feature post Monday, August 04, 2003
You heard it here first, when I blogged about it on the 27th of July, about the Brandeis alum, Cmdr. Wright, the commander of The USS Constitution. Well, the school has finally caught up to the news... From LGF and see this Ha'aretz article
(you can make your own photoshop image....this was just a half assed effort) No, it's not Gordie. But it's one of his cronies (I'm witholding the name). Here's an email he sent in response to another one:
I'm not even gonna bother fisking it, because it isn't worth my time. This has idiotarian written all over it. And since when is "liberal" a erogatory term? Today was a not so busy day in the lab. In the morning, I just counterstained some slides that had been X-gal stained. Went down to the neuropathology offices, (walked by the pathology dept....that was wierd), to drop off some brain tissue samples from (deceased) Alzheimers patients, to be embedded in parafin. Then we had an AM lab meeting (special time) and that took an hour. Then it was lunch time. Then in the afternoon, things were slow again. But I got to use a new chemical in the hood: Xylene. Therefore, Xylene is the chemical of the day. Finally, at 4pm, a baby shower was held for one of the lab memebers, who'se expecting in early september. You have to understand, that most of the students/post-docs in the lab are female, as are all the research associates. So the estrogen levels are rather high. So people brought in (a lot of) food and we chipped in some money to get some baby gifts for the woman. The gifts included: a baby bath, a bouncing chair, a swing, bibs, blanket, mattress pad, sleeper, pacifiers and the likes. It was nice. But though the males were in the minority, don't think that estrogen totally dominated--afterall, one of the male post-docs brought a case of beer....heh.... Everyone should go wish Kinayda Kin a happy birthday! (He's Turning 32) And on that note, everyone should also go buy Kinayda Kin a drink or two, as he has the misfortune of sharing a birthday with the old White House press corps hag (Helen Thomas), who Kinayda fisks excellently, and arch terrorist and SOB (who should be 6 feet under) Yassir Arafat. I can see the connection between the last two. And now don't you see why he needs a few stiff drinks? Eh? I think all events for the birthdays of the old hag and Terrorfat should be handled by B.C. It's that time again....time to see what the self dubbed "progressives" at Brandeis are up to. First off, we have the overused, boring, stale "Impeach Bush" email. (Yawn) Saying: "After what's happened with Gov. Davis in my state...anything is possible". This person is obviously a bit delusional. First off, Gov. Gray-out Davis is up for recall election b/c CA law enabled people to do it, and also because he's done a shitty job as governor. Look at California. You have beaches, snow, desert/resorts, top of the line academic institutions, and attractive women. Think about how much money is brought in from tourism alone. Now you've managed to blow all this revenue, and are sitting in a huge defecit, companies (read as jobs) are leaving your state, takes are way too high, and you had that whole energy crisis. Obviously the man is pretty damn bad at managing money. Just about as bad as Mike Tyson who somehow blew $300 million. And you wonder why people may want to recall you? Second, there's a reply written to the letter, from another lefty. He informes the readers that not only is the recall issue on the CA ballot (in which he's encouraging people to support gray-out Davis), there's another issue! He writes: The initiative, sponsored by the always insecure Ward Connerly Now Ward Connerly [head of the American Civil Rights institute], is anything but insecure. Oh wait, in lefty jargon, does insecure mean being a minority who doesn't full-heartedly support liberals? If so, then I too am insecure. So is JC Watts, Linda Chavez, et. al. Connerly was also the force behind prop. 209 which banned Affirm Action in the UC system. So about this initiative: would effectively criminalize any use of race by the state Wow! What a novel idea--not judging people by the color of their skin Any of you lefty moonbats ever heard of the 14th ammendment? No? Why am I not suprised. It's a great initiative. This sounds good in theory Hell yeah it does! (Cue soundbite of group cheering for Connerly) but it would give racists free liscense to BE racist Uh, no, it wouldn't. It's an anti-racism initiative. It doesn't descriminate based on one's skin color. and would take away a valuable source of information about everything from class difference Class difference=something socialists like. No? to medical problems No, it wouldn't. Right now under HIPPA, racial info is secret. Should one (personally) decide to release such information for a research study, then they still are able to. So again, you're wrong. whether or not the police are racial profiling They're not. And I really needn't elaborate. But for a good read, I reccomend: "Are Cops Racist", by Heather MacDonald. (It should definitely be on the VRWC book club list) And that's today's visit to see what the Brandeis loony left is up to. (Note: they're up to other loony things too) Okay, today's crackhead of the day is none other than Lybian Dictator Moammar Gadhafi. Honorable mention for the crackhead of the day award goes to ABC for actually having this shmuck on a Sunday Morning Show. Let's see some of what the crackhead had to say
Bullshit. Remember the Lockerbie Bombing, whose gov't was behind that?
Hey! He forgot to mention the neoconservative cabal! Isn't it disturbing that I've heard the same argument from lefties (about the US Foriegn policy).
Uh......sure......
Uh, sorry, what you practice I don't think counts as civilized.
hey! He actually said something correct!
Nope, still a crackhead, who recites the lines of the loony left. Sorry about the unexpected blogging hiatus, but mom decided almost spontaneously that my brother and I should go visit our grandparents, so, I've been in Youngstown for the past two days. But I'm back in Cleveland now. It was an interesting ride home....there was a chicken walking across the highway, and somehow my mom managed to hit it. So we got some good jokes in about that. I'm behind on both the news and the blogsphere (d'oh), subsequently, I must play a major game of catch-up with everything. Perhaps I'll post later after I do that. Friday, August 01, 2003
So Brandeis is anything but a party school. Hell, we're almost the exact opposite of one. But (even though I don't drink), I at least know what beer pong is, and how its played. So at Beer hour today at work, the hosting lab decided to play beer pong. Problem was, most people had no clue how the game was played, let alone had they heard of it. They also forgot a ping pong ball, so the game started off with a beer bottle cap. I was suprised that so many of the grad students and research assts. didn't know anything about the game. One would thus also assume that science people would have somewhat of an edge when it comes to beer pong (because we've all taken physics as part of our education). Well, um, lets just say that you can put that theory aside too. So today as part of something I was doing in the lab (for an experiment), I had to pour Ethanol (190 proof--95%) over dry ice. When the ethanol came into contact with the dry ice, there was this huge white mist, sort of like fog--like at the science museums where they do demonstrations with liquid nitrogen. It was cool stuff. (and this has been today's moment of nerdiness) Thursday, July 31, 2003
Here's an interesting story I came across, Saddam sent a trade mission to Niger Very interesting article. Perhaps British Intel (MI-6) was right? You can read the article and decide for yourself From Ha'aretz Report: Syria has 100 nerve-gas missiles aimed at Israel The missiles are supposively armed with VX, a deadly nerve agent. For those who remember, Iraq had a lot of VX unaccounted for after Gulf War I and in 1998....perhaps it developed feet and walked over the border? Apparently* the economy is looking up for a change! That's very good news. The GDP grew by 2.4% surpassing expectations of a 1.5% growth. Unemployment claims also went down (more good news!) And the manufacturing index is up to 55.9, which is supposed to also be a good sign. Go read the rest of this good news! One of the major factors leading to this recovery was an increase in Defense Spending! (You know, the thing some Dems want to cut!) This is great news! Not only do the Armed Forces benefit from the increase in funds, but the Economy and the nation benefit too. It's a win-win situation! (Note: I'm deliberately ignoring any political/partisan benefits) Now, I wonder what President Reagan would think of this news....Superior firepower....heh. *Since I'm not an Economics student, and know little on the topic, I will need to consult with my friends who are Econ. majors, and see if things are really as good as they sound. It pays to befriend people who aren't science majors sometimes. Sorry for not blogging yesterday, but when I got home, I was immediately put to work doing house chores (boo!) and didn't get access to the computer. Sigh. Tuesday, July 29, 2003
Over at The Puddle (from Jerusalem), Cookie Goddess mentions that she's taking a "driving refresher" course. Now to anyone whose been to Israel probably remembers, Israeli drivers are, um, quite bad on the roads. They're so bad, that many times they make Massholes look like semi-decent drivers. So I'm left to wonder, what exactly is taught in an Israeli "Driving refresher" course/ So the whole idea of a "Futures Market" based on terror threats and all, is the dumbest thing to come out of DARPA since...oh, the TIA Project. But what's bugging me even more, is if those who designed it, even understand how the Futures markets work....cause I sure as hell don't have the slightest clue (which is why I'm good friends with Economics majors who will explain it to me) Anyone got an electron microscope handy? It's time to play a tune on the world's smallest violin. Today we play a song, for this "poor little Jihadi". Perhaps he should consider joining JihadEx Runner up for the world's smallest violin award of the day are the Texas run away democrats Monday, July 28, 2003
I guess I'm on a roll today with the topic of the Dem. Primary, so why not go with the flow? From al-Reuters: "Moderate" Democrats Warn Party on 2004 Prospects The DLC is sounding the alarms (within the Dem party) again, saying: "[the] Democratic Party will lose the 2004 presidential election unless it can win over suburban voters who feel the party has become too liberal" [-emphasis added]. How long have I been saying that for? The key portion of the electorate to win is the middle of the road voters--the "independents". The Dem candidates, following Dean have been moving further and further left (do their own detriment)--and by doing so, the only peolpe they're exiting are clueless college lefties and the like. At the same time, the GOP sees the void and has been courting the center. The dems are out of touch with America. 'Nuff said. Just when the Dem. primary couldn't get any wierder, Sen. Bob Graham said to Tony Snow on Fox News Sunday
I've heard of the position of Governor, but not President of Florida.... wow, you've really gotta go back and refresh your constitutional knowledge (also see this earlier post) And Sen. Kerry is quoted as saying on CNN: (Credit: SillyGlobe) Now just imagine if a Republican were to have said that, wouldn't the press be all over him/her? Sens. Graham and Kerry, you may want to go back and huddle with your staffs, to review what you're gonna say in public *Drink Alert* Congressman Dennis Kucinich (Nutcase-OH) yesterday "called for a $60 billion effort to provide universal preschool" for all kids ages 3 to 5. Where would the money come from to fund such a program? A 15% cut in the PENTAGON's Budget (Would you trust this man with National Security?!?) His explanation as to how the Pentagon could function with less money: "Kucinich linked the soaring Pentagon spending with what he called President Bush's aggressive and largely unilateral foreign policy and said defense spending could be trimmed if the U.S. adopted a more cooperative stance with other countries." I've got one thing to say about this: BULLSHIT Not only is he going to harm national security, he wants to create this new entitlement (which will of course cost more than $60 billion), meaning an increase in taxes, and it'll produce more problems with the Educational system then we have now. (I'll refrain from adding in more colorful terms) F.E.T.E (as BC the Imperial Torturer would say) Sunday, July 27, 2003
Usually, when something big and important happens with Brandeis Alumni, the University likes to play it up and make it into a big press release. However, they strangely omitted this story, which I stumbled across by accident in Lexis-Nexis:
Now while the USS Constitution is no longer an in-service ship, it's an extremely important piece of US Naval history, and Brandeis should be proud to have an alumnus serving as Commander of any ship, especially "Old Ironsides". I think I know why they probably didn't hype it, because talk of a "warship" would offend the people in this department. Either way, I think Cmdr. Wright deserves a hearty congrats on this honor. 07/27/93--Boston Celtics star Reggie Lewis died after collapsing on a Brandeis University basketball court during practice; he was 27 What's with Sen. Graham (D-FL)? Has he been smoking somehting? I saw the following article at Newsmax: Graham: 2004 Could Bring Bush's 'Impeachment'? He said this on Fox News Sunday, and the whole quote was:
Now anyone whose read the Constitution has gotta know that Impeachment can only be performed by the House, and conviction (and thus removal) by the Senate--and the bar for impeachment is "high crimes and misdemeanors". Not getting re-elected is not impeachment and conviction. Some more:
Hey, isn't "Dereliction of Duty" the title of the book about Clinton? Interesting choice of words (perhaps?) Now before the GOP retook the Senate in 2002 Graham was the Head of the Intellegence Comittee, so he should know what intel there was available on Iraq. And for the real kicker:
Saddam's possesion of WMD was what made the war imparative (among other reasons). Biological and Chemical weapons are such arms. Plus, were sanctions lifted, we know that he'd resume a nuclear program too. So what exactly are you saying Graham? You've admitted that he had Bio and Chem weapons....Huh? Lance Armstrong just won his fifth consecutive Tour De France! Take that all you America haters in France... |
