The question of the day: Which of the three is a bigger waste of dead tree? a) Eric Alterman's "What Liberal Media" b) Hillary Clinton's "Living History" c) Blumenthal's "The Clinton Wars" Leave your answer in the comments :) I really wanted to blog last night....but Blogger was down. Damn it. Stupid blogger (insert chain of explicatives here). And apparently I fell asleep while finishing a book, so I didn't get to blog. I was excited to hear this morning that Israel took a shot at Hamas terrorist leader Dr. Rantsi, though I was sorely dissapointed when I found out that he was only wounded (Doh!). Apparently he heard the chopper and jumped out. Bastard. My advice: reload, and fire away. But in other good news, Shiek Ahmed Yassin, terrorist scum, and "spiritual leader" (of the RoP group) Hamas is also a target now . I"m sure that there's a lot of squabbiling going on amongst the Generals in the Kiriyah (that's the IDF HQ building in Tel Aviv) over whose unit gets the honor of that hit. Speaking of Hamas swine, here's an article about a group that decries Israeli action against Hamas: Amnesty Int'. (Hat tip to ATS). In the "good news" column, Jared, of the PolitiBlog is back! (well sort of). Though he should know better than to watch C-SPAN. In the "bad news" column, I think we really need to help LC Victor stay away from Ebay. I mean look at what he just bought! Well, gotta go put my little brother to bed, and then go feed the Zionist Infidel Capitalist Imperial Guniea Pig (otherwhise known as Cappucino). I'll post a picture one of these days. Okay, I'll admit it, I didn't watch the Hillary interview on ABC; nor did I really care either. But I'm reading WND now, getting the summary, and there are some fun quotes. "I have no intention of running for president,"--Thank goodness think that many of the policies of this administration and the Republican Party are quite radical. They are certainly more radical than Ronald Reagan, and far more radical than the mainstream of the American political center We must pause to salute the policies of Ronaldus Maximus which lead this great nation to victory over the Evil commie empire in the Cold War....Having just read Reagan's War, I can say that most of the Gipper's ideas were considered "Radical" at the time, but in retrospect, they were the right thing to do. And speaking of "far more radical than the mainstream...", uh, where do you classify yourself then? Mainstream? I laugh at such a notion. Oh, Hillary--by the way, the Dems are also telling you to STFU. (It's not just the VRWC whose sick of you). They [the Bush admin and GOP] are attempting to dismantle the federal government.---woohoo! Smaller federal gov't!!!! [Again, more praise for Reagan]. She goes on to talk about her relationship with Bill, and that's where I jump ship. I really, really, really don't give a damn about that.
Go read the rest of this great piece. (And look at the goofy picture of Al Sharpton on the page). One note though, when the author says liberals, he's not refering to your every day rank and file Democrat; he's talking about the "hard-left", the "progressives"... There are some times when I'm proud to say that I attend Brandeis, and there are other times that I'm ashamed to say that I do. Our school (just like many others) likes to brag about its famous alumni. In Brandeis' case, there are many famous alums, however, many are just famous in particular fields, so they don't have "big-time" name recognition. They seem to focus just on a few famous alums (that are not university profs or administrators)--most notably Thomas Friedman (the NYT Columnist and author). Another name that Brandeis likes to "drop" on occasion is Christie Heffner '74, CEO of Playboy Enterprises (no, there's nothing on campus named for the Heffners). Two other famous (yet apparently lesser known) alums include the current deputy PM of Bulgaria, Nikolai Vassiliev is a Brandeis alum, and so is Dimitrij Rupel the Slovenian foriegn affairs minister. When I visited the MyBrandeis website today, I was totally suprised to find out that Sid Blumenthal was a Brandeis alum (class of 1969). For those not aware, Blumenthal served in the Clinton White House and is the author of the new book "The Clinton Wars". Apparently Blumenthal recently had an exerpt from his book featured in the Boston Globe Magazine (see here), where he mentioned his alma matter, which is why the school decided to highlight it (and subsequently play it up). Now I didn't know much about Blumenthal until recently, when Drudge first reported that there was a book coming out (I honestly didn't really care and really still don't). However, after this first report, it seemed like things began to snowball, with more and more coming out about Blumenthal, a lot of it very embarrasing, and it makes me ashamed to say that I went to the same school as him. Among the pieces that I came across about Blumenthal, were the following: Sid 'Vicious' Blumenthal by David Horowitz. Now Horowitz just totally rips Blumenthal apart (suprised? What were you expecting, it is Horowitz after all?). Obviously, Horowitz has somewhat of an axe to gring with Blumenthal (as Horowitz seems to have with many people). Then there's a review by Dick Morris, which also takes Blumenthal to task, and drags him over the coals. Then, Drudge has some bits on Blumenthal, such as how he allegedly made up quotes for the NYT (and yes, this predated Jayson Blair). Finally, Drudge delivers a knock out punch to Blumenthal, in which he reported that Blumenthal paid to get out of his own lawsuit! From what I gather, Blumenthal sued Drudge for $30 million (in a libel case), and ultimately, paid cash to Drudge to get out of the lawsuit (and to avoid a countersuit) Now with all these revelations, I'm suprised that Brandeis would acknowledge that Blumenthal was an alumnus, and in a sense "trumpet it" on its website. Why? The Brandeis motto is "truth unto its innermost parts" and the school is constantly stressing the idea of integrety (esp. academic integrity). From what I've read, Blumenthal has performed an about-face to the schools motto (to say the least). As such, it's sort of embarrasing to say that yes, I attend the same school that graduated this man, it's one of those times where you'd prefer to drop another name. Okay, that's my random thought for the evening.... Sunday, June 08, 2003
I go away for two days, and I get some very, very interesting search engine queries to my site. They include: [UpdateSunday has also yielded some interesting hits] 1) "picture of president bush in a flight suit" (AllTheWeb) 2) "peekab" (MSN !?!?!?) [not sure what this is] 3) "Guys who like wearing lingerie" (AllTheWeb)---What the fuck was this person searching for? How the hell do I come up under this?!?! (Note: I'm a guy, and I DO NOT wear lingerie). 4) "Simpsons soundbite" (Google) 5) "jaws security" (Google) 6) "stupid law suits" (Lycos) 7) jaws (yahoo) 8) Thomas Friedman (daypop) 9) jaws (google--UK) 10) Jaws Poster (Google) 11) sweet bra and panties (AllTheWeb) Whoever searched for the third query listed--um, seek professional help. And I'm starting to get worried that in light of query 11, I'm gonna get a lot of misguided pr0n searches.... I'm back from the "holiday break/hiatus" as some have described it. Didn't do very much...went to synagogue, came home, cooked, got yelled at, got yelled at some more and did a lot of reading. I completed Reagan's War, Bias and What's so Great About America. Good reads. Perhaps I'll blog on 'em at a later date...when I'm lacking things to blog on. Not too much news in Cleveland, though there were some good quotes in the Plain Dealer the past two days. In Friday's paper, there was a great Editorial totally bashing Denny Kucinich (Kucinich can't diminish the rescue of Pfc. Lynch). The last lines though, are a classic:
Today's question of the day was also very good...alas, it's not online yet. Darn...(it takes shots at the NYT). I'm also very behind on the Blogsphere as a result of these past two days. So I really need to try 'n play catch-up (if it's possible). And my nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize (the one mentioned in the Toronto Star), the bulldozer that ran over ISM terror supporter Rachel corrie seems to be starting on a PR campaign, as LGF shows us the following pictures from Chicago. See...now everyone wants to pose with the Bulldozer. And also from LGF...another reason the EU is worthless...look at what they're doing to children and their playgrounds! Matt over at Stars And Stripescontinues to dissect the Dems bellyaching over the so called "tax credit" that the dems scuttled in the first place. I wonder if he's currently in line to punch Denny and see the response? Speaking of Denny, that makes me think of the nutcase anti-war folk. Yes, they're still around. And, no I'm not talking about howling moonbats of academica like Gordie (that's the website for his book; view at your own risk)....as InstaPundit shows. Okay, I've gotta go play catch-up now in the Blogsphere... Thursday, June 05, 2003
The following is a JawsBlog PSA: In light of the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, which begins at Sundown thursday night and lasts until saturday night sundown, there will be no postings here at JawsBlog until Saturday night at the earliest. To all those Jewish readers: Happy Shavuot. To all those non-Jewish readers...um...have a great end of the week! (and be happy it's Friday!) It's time for some sports and science--physics and neuroscience! Woohoo! First, there's the physics of a corked baseball bat (see physics can be fun) Second, I saw this article on NewsMax about trying to "read people's thoughts" with medical imaging equipment (mainly fMRI). I'll spare you my long winded rant on this, and will summarize it in two words: junk-science. That's all you need to know. These researchers are screwing around with fMRI, and in my opinion (as well as those of many others) could be doing better research with their time. Well, the Democratic Party appears to have been busy shooting itself in the foot recently, and not realizing it. For example: their disconnect with the Hispanic community (a post from yesterday) Their flip-flopping on the recent tax cut, which Matt of Stars n' Stripes discusses (also read the comments to the post) Now there's this piece from the wire reports: Democrats court liberal activists by criticizing Bush What's the problem here? Well, let's go through the article and see. First off, the headline should read "Dem Candidates", b/c the liberal activists are almost certainly gonna vote for the dem party (unless they vote for some wierd 3rd party). And actually, the first line of the article reads:"Democratic presidential candidates courted liberal activists". So the headline is bad for starters. Then Howard Dean wins the honor of wearing the dunce cap today with this quote: "I think the Democratic Party has made a fundamental mistake in the last few years thinking we are going to win by being like the Republicans," former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean said. "The way to get elected in this country is not to be like the Republicans, it's to stand up against them and fight." No, that's wrong dean. Well, you're right in that the Democrats have made a mistake. They've ventured too far over to the left, and have lost the issues of defense/nat'l security to the GOP. You see, what the GOP and Bush have wisely done, is in light of the Dems moving further left, they've decided to slide more towards the middle ground, where the sizeable block of independent/swing voters are. By doing so, they've been able to boost their electorate, b/c the Dems just slid off to the side. I don't see the Dems trying to be like the GOP either Dean. Perhaps since you're so far left, you think anything to the right of you is a republican? I've said it time and time again, you've gotta control the middle-ground of the spectrum if you want success. So who sposored said conference? "Two Progressive groups, the Campaign for America's Future and the Institute for America's Future." Oh that's brilliant dems, slide even further to the left. You're in the wacko zone now..The progressives are the same loonies from the Anti-war rallies, the G-8 rioters, ISM members/supporters, IndyMedia and DUh posters...ignoring most of the country. Former Illinois Sen. Carol Moseley Braun got some of the loudest applause by tapping into the crowd's lingering anger over the U.S.-led war against Iraq. She criticized the Bush administration for failing to capture terrorist leader Osama bin Laden "all the while pandering to fear to keep us at war until the elections are over." Asshat. What would you have done different Mosely-Braun? Would you even have gone after UBL and the Taliban? Would you have put your foot down against terror? I'm guessing no, and that you'd rather have us try to "better understand his culture" (or wimpy bs like that)--singing Kumbaya. I higly doubt it. This is why the Dems have almost no hold on the issue of National Secutiry. "This administration is using our pain out of 9-11 as a smoke screen for an extreme political agenda," she said. Define said extreme agenda. You mean doing what we should've done during the 90s and in some cases before hand? "The president keeps telling us he wants a debate about values in 2004 -- we are going to give him a debate about values," Sen. J. Edwards (D-NC) said. "Because this president's values are not the values of the American family." Um, another mistake. Republicans seem to hold the issue of family values, and the President reflects the values of the average American family. He and the first lady are great examples. Republican National Committee spokesman Jim Dyke dismissed the criticism. "The best that the Democrats have to put forward to Americans is to hope for the worst for America," he said. "As an election strategy, we're not sure that people will appreciate that." That sounds just like what Rush Limbaugh says...and if the 2002 elections are any guide, the Dems are in trouble. Just read this column by Ollie North, and you'll find out how great the troops of the US Army are. It looks like Ann found out that she'd fallen to second place in LC Victor's standings, because she wrote a great column this week, in true Ann form. It's one of her better ones lately, and it shows the true Ann Coulter writing style, as she goes after the anti-war moonbats (mainly those on the left), "liberals" [more the idiotarian ones], the NYT (and writers like Kristof), the UN, a few jabs at Clinton and Janeane Garofalo. Some of the quality lines in the piece include: Perhaps Hussein was using the three trucks capable of assembling poison gases to sell ice cream under some heretofore undisclosed U.N. "Oil For Popsicles" program. Should we apologize and return the country to Saddam Hussein and his winsome sons? Should we have him on "Designer's Challenge" to put his palaces back in all their '80s Vegas splendor? Or maybe Uday and Qusay could spruce up each other's rape rooms on a very special episode of "Trading Spaces"? What is liberals' point? [Note: I've been saying that MTV Cribs should visit the palaces] The left's leading intellectual light, Janeane Garofalo, was featured in an anti-war commercial before the war, saying: "If we invade Iraq, there's a United Nations estimate that says, 'There will be up to a half a million people killed or wounded.'" Now they're testy because they fear Saddam may never have had even a sporting chance to unleash dastardly weapons against Americans. LC Victor, how many days is the Garaofalo apology count at now? Okay, one of the real reasons I added a counter was that I'm curious to see what kind of random search engine queries bring people to my blog. So here's some of the funny ones I saw today: "stars and stripes Magazine" (Lycos) "Ben Brandzel" (Google) "WEASEL PLAYING CARDS" (Lycos--I'm the #1 result!) "bush fascist fisked" (Yahoo!) "Kapish and Hebrew" (MSN Search) This is more fun than I ever thought :) All the news out now is about Hillary's book....blah blah blah. My opinion on it: I simply don't care about it at all. Speaking of not caring, the tub o' lard, known as Michael Moore was in the local paper today, talking about his apparence at the LA Book Expo with Former Sec. State Madeline Albright...and the two apparently had "fun" bashing the president...go figure. I'll pull up the link to the article when I find it. Updates: First off, Boycott Hollywood has the story on Moore and Albright (saved me some digging). Second, when it comes to the whole Martha Stewart mess, I don't really care that much about it either. However, there is one aspect of the story that is faintly interesting to me and that is the ImClone angle. Why? The former CEO of ImClone, Sam Wacksel (sp?) was originally from Dayton, OH, and he and his brother Harlan Wacksel, were both members of my high-school youth group USY. More to the point, they were from my region of the group Central Region USY (CRUSY). (CRUSY RULES!) One of them was actually in CRUSY with my mother, and the other one was in it with my uncle. (Yes, I'm a 2nd generation USYer). So it's interesting to see alums from my old youth group in the news...though I prefer hearing "good news" about alums from my region. That's the only reason I have a faint interest, cause otherwise, I could care less about Martha. Fox News is reporting that Republican leaders are taking classes en Espanol so that they can make better headway into courting the vote of the Hispanic/Latino communidades here in the USA. My take on this? Very smart move. From what I've heard President Bush habla Espanol, and by speaking in Spanish he has wooed parts of the HIspanic community. Also, Hispanics, due to their culture, tend to be more socially conservative (family values, role of the Church/religion in daily life) which seems to be an issue more dominated by the Republicans. Also, the GOP's hard-line against Castro and Cuba earns the support of many Latinos (especially in S. Florida). By starting to use Spanish, it will appear that they're trying to come closer and get a greater understanding of the communidades, even if their gringo espanol is somewhat imperfecto. Oh, and by the way, at JawsBlog: "Se Habla Espanol" Update: Regarding what i said earlier, comes this story from the Wash Times: DNC aide decries Hispanic 'disconnect'. Interesting notes: "Republicans were further encouraged by a May 2002 poll sponsored by the Democratic Party that found allegiance waning among Hispanics". "chairman of the Hispanic caucus of the Democratic National Committee said yesterday that there is a "disconnect" in the party regarding the minority vote and accused it of scrapping a $1.5 million plan to attract Hispanics"....wow...perhaps I was right.... Long-Range Rocket Engines Found in Iraq (London Times)
And lets see...that violated UN Sec. Council Res. 1441 and a number of other ones.... Tuesday, June 03, 2003
That's the kind of thing you expect to hear at Brandeis (from many profs and students)...no questions asked. And this article which Glenn Reynolds blogged, is really on target. One of my favorite quotes of the piece, which all but screams out "Brandeis" is this line:
When I first entered Brandeis, I was very, very centrist. I leaned left on some issues, right on others. I had been registered as a Republican at home though (b/c I was voting for a friend's father in the local GOP primary), but I didn't dwell too much on partisan issues. When the whole 2000 election mess was going on, I just wanted it to be over already, I didn't care who won. However, after spending time at Brandeis, I started to hover more towards the right. What caused my shift? I don't quite know. I think it was a combination of a lot of things. Part of it was the attitudes mentioned in the quote above. Another part of it was the "blame-America first" crowd on campus, who seemed to be the representation of liberals/democrats on campus (note: the Brandeis Democrats have been all but taken over by the "progressives", such as the RSA, SJS, PAX majors...), who exemplify said attitudes, and also function with totally irrational ideas. Another part of me became more of a fiscal conservative (after I found out how much of our tuition dollars Brandeis wastes--I liken it to excessive pork projects in Congress). I kept my opinions secret for quite a while for fear of retribution, because one can get a hostile reaction from the "progressive crowd". Eventually, I guess things just began to "boil over" inside of me, and I needed to vent my frustrations/share my opinions with like minded (or at least open-minded) people. To make a long story short, that was one of the major reasons that lead to me helping found United We Stand. Sure, I've been harrassed and harrangued about being pro-America on campus. Heck, I've even received nasty letters from Germany! (apparently our club was mentioned as being "pro-Kreig" in Der Spiegel). I've been berated by students and faculty, had property stolen and vandalized, and even had physical threats made against me. [I'd share some of the letters, but they're on my computer at school which is in storage]. But at the same time, by starting United We Stand, many other students have said that they now feel safer coming out of the woodwork, as they now have a forum where they feel safe expressing themselves. Even people who don't really care about politics, or are indifferent towards things, have expressed gratitude that now there's a "safe forum" for them to share their opinion when they feel like it, and I honestly am happy about that. I guess what I'm trying to say in this discombobulated rambling is that there is still a stigma against republicans being pro-America at Brandeis, and many other schools, but that the stigma is not coming from as large of a group of people as it seems. It's mostly from the so called "progressive" crowd and their beloved "faculty", who just make a lot of Denny K. continues to be an asshat (that may be an understatement), as the most recent headline shows: Kucinich Calls on Pentagon to Release Unedited Lynch Tape Denny's idiocy continues to amaze me. He's gonna be dragged over hot coals by the Cleveland Plain Dealer for this one, I can all but guarentee that. You know what Denny? Why don't you have a little talk with Matt of Stars n' Stripes, whose brother is an Army Ranger and knows the story (oh, and Denny...I'm sure that both Matt and his brother would like to "impart some wisdom" to you) ;) Update: Apparently on Friday's edition of the NBC nightly news, Jim Avila filed a story on this subject, and found out that it wasn't the US troops who were "firing blanks"; rather it was the BBC (hat tip: Instapundit). I'm still thinking that Denny K. has been reading too many "New Age" publications and/or been spending too much time on IndyMedia. So the Dixie Chicks were supposed to play in Cleveland sunday night. I never liked their music (or most country music) for starters, so I didn't really care that they were coming. Plus, Natalie Maines idiotic comments didn't change my attitude towards the group that much (I just consider 'em stupider now). Apparently, people showed up for their show sunday night, and 15 minutes before they were to go on stage, the group said they had to cancel b/c Maines had a sore throat (which was verified by a doctor). The group has scheduled a make-up concert, but many people are still irate, as the downtown parking lots wouldn't refund people's money. (So people became cranky). Now what I'm wondeirng is what took so long to get a doctor to diagnose the sore throat, let alone to wait till 15 minutes before show time to call things off? That's not very considerate to say the least. As a result, the group has angred a whole 'nother group of (former)-fans. And the group's idiocy appears to have continues. According to this article, they're now incurring the wrath of some for wearing a "FUTK" shirt for the Country music awards...when in the end Toby Keith actually won. (At least I think that's what happened). So anyway, perhaps this is a bit conspiracy-theoryish, but perhaps the Dixie Chicks are just doing a lot of these other shenanigans for cheap and easy PR? It seems possible. Otherwise, they're just really, really stupid. I'll let you decide. Damn it, why can't I fall asleep!?!?!?!!? Okay, for some reason I can't fall asleep...and that isn't a good thing. No, not at all. In an attempt to fall asleep, I'll blog.... WorldNetDaily's "main story" today automatically earns two-thumbs down. The headline (and bi-line): Now France wants global tax on guns Paris, Brazil propose international levy on arms sales to eliminate world hunger I can't even begin to count how many different ways this idea stinks. Look, don't get my wrong, hunger is a horrible thing, but to say the least, this fercock'da plan ain't the way to solve it. The glaring problem with this asshat idea is the imposition of a global tax. First off, who'se responsible for imposing it? Setting the rates? Ensuring its collection? Second, who is gonna oversee how this money goes to feed the hungry. Third--I don't like this whole "Taxation without representation" concept either. Fourth, don't you asshats realize that this tax only applies to "wealthy" countries? It's a selective tax. Oh, and speaking of which, in the UK wouldn't be paying much in taxes....because that's a country where you can't buy firearms. Fifth, the idea sucks because it's endorsed by the chief weasel himself ChIraq. (and was put forward by Castro-lite Lula of Brazil). Hey ChIraq...wanna help feed people? Then stop stuffing money and arms into the hands of tyrannical dictators who deliberately starve their people. And what about that ~12% you've got in your country?....... This idea is beyond stupid .... Hmmm....read quite a few good things today. Mark Steyn went over to Iraq, and says things aren't as bad as the media portrays 'em to be. Cox and Forkum have another great cartoon out. It reminds me of the Sociology and Peace, Conflict & Coexistance studies departments back at Brandeis. This sounds soooo much like them. On the topic of cartoons, I too am disturbed by the one that the Chicago Tribune ran . That kind of cartoon looks like it came from Al-Jazeera or Arab News...not a "mainstream" US paper. If you need further proof that Denny K. has no chance in hell of getting the Dem. nomination (let alone being elected President), just look at this headline: Democratic Candidate Draws Support From Peace Activists, New Age Gurus. I'd refer back to the Cox and Forkum cartoon. Brandeis alum (and member of the alum hall-of-fame) and NYT Columnist Thomas Friedman has a very, um, interesting column up. I'm still scratching my head on this one. Thomas makes some really odd, if not dumb remarks, such as: "The only people who use violence are rogues or nonstate actors with no stakes in the system, such as Osama bin Laden. Basically, he is in a civil war with the Saudi ruling family. But, he says to himself, "The Saudi rulers are insignificant. To destroy them you have to hit the hegemonic power that props them up — America." Um....no, Bin Laden is hell bent on destroying America and bringing the world to be an Islamic republic (under Sharia according to his perverted version of Middle-Ages Islam). It's more than disliking the Saudis. Try again Thomas. Now, people become really frightened of us, a mood reinforced by the Bush team's unilateralism This is a sign that Thomas likely never took a course in the math department. Remember the "Coalition of the willing" [Iraq]? And we had a coalition for taking on the Taliban too. Mr. Friedman--by any chance, did you take "math for sociologists"? With one swipe of our paw we smash the Taliban. Then we turn to Iraq. Then the rest of the world says, "Holy cow! Now we really want a vote over how your power is used." That is what the whole Iraq debate was about. People understood Iraq was a war of choice that would affect them, so they wanted to be part of the choosing. We said, sorry, you don't pay, you don't play. The last line is the key one. These random people in other countries don't pay taxes to the US. They don't have US citizenship, they don't vote here....so why should they have a say in what our country decides to do??? That's common sense, no? And who says you get to control our power either? That's enough fun with Friedman for now. I finished VDH's book this evening--I loved it. I'm simply in awe of the man...and I can't believe he's an academic too! I'd love to see VDH go mano a mano with someone like Gordie (el gringo tantisimo) [note: for those new readers, Gordie is a prof at Brandeis who I am anything but fond of. He's an Idiotarian with a capital "I"]. VDH would desroy him intellectually with more intellectual force than a MOAB (oh, it would be great to watch)...I can dream, can't I? Speaking of dreams...it's off to bed.... "DEBKA file is one of these Israeli intelligence sites, and as best we can tell, they're right sometimes - you know, between 25 and 50% of the time. They have a better record than the New York Times does." --Rush Limbaugh 06/02/03 [Jaws adds: heck, unlike the NYT at least Debka knows that there isn't a gas station on the Temple Mount] So after a long thought process, I decided to finally add a counter to my site. (It's on the left hand side of the page). Part of me is interested in seeing how many people visit my blog on a given day (though I've vowed not to let the numbers get to my head). I mainly added a counter to get a referral log, as I'm genuinely curious where people come from to visit my blog. I also am interested in the referral log, as I'm then able to see what sites are linked to my blog (so that I can add these sites to my blogroll to reciprocate the favor)--and so I can find some other quality blogs. Yay! One of my favorite professor's most recent book has just come out! Hooray! I can't wait to read it (though unfortunately, I may have to wait until the fall to do so--I currently don't have the funds to buy the book). I also want to read the past two issues of the journal he edits. I need to read articles from volumes 7.3 and 8.1 I think, then I'll be caught up. (Not to mention the fact that the journal is very interesting as well). I'm adding it onto my reading list. But now, I must continue to read An Autumn of War by VDH. So far (first 70 some pages) it's amazing. It's a compilation of VDH's columns (for NR/NRO and other papers/journals) from September 11-December 2001. And for those of you who are familiar with VDH's work know--he's amazing...and this book is just jam packed, I can't think of the right words to describe it. Speaking of which, I think I'll head back to reading it now.... That's the question of the hour...but it looks like according to this post at NRO and this one at RWN the answer is leaning towards "no". That was the headline on Drudge's site earlier...I just thought it looked cool. I think Hell must be freezing over...Maureen Dowd's latest column doesn't criticize, let alone mention, President Bush or any other members of the administration! That's a first! Okay, gotta go make some phone calls....more blogging later (hopefully) I hate home. I hate home. I hate home. Picking up on a theme yet? Yes, I sucessfully wasted another day here en mi casa thanks to my crazy parents. Today it was manual labor around the house, running assine errands, doing landscaping work (that the landscaper was paid to do), and then attending a graduation party for a family friend in Akron. (At least there was good BBQ at the last one). Interject the above with large amounts of yelling, screaming and arguments, and you have a basic glimpse of what a day at home is like for me. ARRRGH. I also got told that I wasn't allowed to touch a computer (why, I dunno--I've learned that most things here don't make sense). So, I'm playing major league catch-up in the blogsphere. Some things of note: The Angry Clam, all the way out on the left coast, has joined in the fun game known as Denny Kucinich bashing His Excellency, Emperor Misha I, has come up with a great idea--rewarding IDF soldiers with the Pizzas for Peace Program! Want to participate? It's simple: you can always send Pizza and Ice Cream or Burgers to the brave men (and women) of the IDF. WE LOVE THE IDF!!! Unfortunately, our friend Jared is taking a blogging vacation. We hope that he won't forget to celebrate Republican Babe of the Week on Thursdays even during the hiatus (wink..wink). LGF has some goodies...more on some ISM wackos...phase one of the Roadmap is scheduled to have been completed (not)...and today was int'l kids day where Terrorfat continued to brainwash kids I think that Dr. Jal of Idiotarian.com was snubbed in this years Annual Islamophobia Awards.. So were LGF, Amish Tech Support, and Emperor Misha. (among others that is). I'm blanking out now...I guess that means I should go to bed....goodnight! Remember when that line used to be a "big insult" (well, it was on the playground at least). I think this recent story from Newsday may bring that line into question: U.S. Troops Seek Women's, Baby Products. I think this line is the kicker: "Some of your toughest men in the Army wear pantyhose," (Note: No, I'm not trying to imply that soldiers are sissies. Rather, there professional ass-kickers. Pantyhose are supposed to help prevent getting blisters...it's an old hiking trick) Sunday, June 01, 2003
Bad day around here...and I'm not just talking about the local weather. So no time to really blog tonight. Spent the day reading mostly (read some NRODT, finished Bush At War, started VDH's most recent book) I've started updating my blogroll somewhat....I'm still working on it. Only piece of news worth blogging right now is this story from WorldTribune: CIA: Iraq's mobile labs were functioning in early 2003 . Interesting report. I'm slightly skeptical of this source, so I'd say treat it with the same skepticism given to Debka Friday, May 30, 2003
Just wanted to say Mazel Tov to my synagogue's Asst. Rabbi and his wife (she's a Brandeis alum as well...class of 90-something....), on the birth of their first child on Thursday Morning!!!! It was a baby boy, so he doesn't have a name yet... But Mazel Tov to both of them!!! Today in Cuyahoga County Criminal Court, Biswanath Halder, otherwise known as the CWRU shooter (and member of the tin-foil brigades), pled not guilty to the 338 count indictment (which was handed down by a grand jury yesterday--story is here). Prosecutors are apparently seeking the death penalty in this case as well. And there were some good letters to the editor in the Plain Dealer yesterday which takes Denny and his "progressive" following (an extremely small one at that) to task. Speaking of "local", I'm gonna stretch this to include school. Steven Silver (Brandeis c/o 2000 I think?) has a post titled: "Free Enterprise and Other Conservative Causes" [see Thursday 5/29/03--Blogspot is having issues] and in it he discusses what the college republicans at Brandeis were like when he was there. Well things have fortunately changed (for the better) at Brandeis, and hopefully sometime this weekend I want to expand on his post, and continue the story with what I've heard. Long story short, things have done a 180--for the better. Gotta go cook dinner... It's still early, and I got woken up at 7am....therefore I'm grumpy this morning. Well, I heard back from the doctor who I had an interview with and got good and bad news. Good news is I have a job. Bad news is, I can't start until July 1. So I have to find work for June. Time to call the temp agencies I guess... Hmm...what else should I blog about now. Our so-called "allies" the cheese eating surrender monkeys have just received a smak-down from our President, when he said: "Not Clear France Concerned With US Security". Am I suprised? No. France simply wants to spite the US at all costs. In return, I say screw France. In a bit of funnier news....Hillary is getting yelled at not only from the right (or in her words the VRWC) but now the left is joining in with criticism. (Cue the Simpsons' soundbite of Nelson saying: "ha ha") (Cue the soundbite again) for this story about a wanted perp found at a baseball game on a jumbotron.... Rush made a good point yesterday, about the evolution of "Reagan Conservatism" Now communism isn't the main enemy, that role is been taken by extremist Islamofacist terrorism. Speaking of which, I think the Iranian people want regime change, so the time is right... As for Rush...he's posted his interview with VDH on his website. Talk about a must read! The Cleveland Plain Dealer yesterday wasted dead tree space by running Maureen Dowd's latest screed...but I didn't need to bother fisking it, thanks to the girls at Right We Are who already took that task up! I've gotta go make some calls right now, but I've got a plan for a later posting, which may either go up this evening or perhaps tomorrow (depending on if I'm allowed to use the computer---don't ask...I'm in a dysfunctional house). I'm gonna do one of my first ever neuro-bloggings, about the paper that was published in this week's issue of Nature which the media is reporting as saying: "certain types of video game can sharply improve your visual perception.". I've got a copy of the original article from Nature, and I plan on reading it, and I'll see how accurate the mainstream media was in reporting it, and I'll aslo share my opinions about it, and add in any details that the mainstream press left out. Well off to call those temp agencies... Thursday, May 29, 2003
I was at Wild Oats today doing some shopping, and there was a sign that stuck out like a sore thumb. Advertising for a sale, the sign read: Gringo Chips and Gringo Salsa Now, as any good hispanic/latino can tell you (as well as others), if you're shopping for Mexican food, why would you buy something labled gringo??? I mean come on people!!! Aside from their constant Israel bashing and ignorance of terrorism, AI has given people another reason to not support it: Group Says Iraq War Increased Rights Abuses Operation Iraqi Freedom added to human misery worldwide because it increased rights violations, gave despots license to treat dissidents cruelly, and kept the world from debating human rights more vigorously, Amnesty International (search) said Wednesday. Geez...I thought getting rid of Saddam was a boost to human rights. How'd this give despots power? I put 'em on edge, knowing they could be next. said the worthy achievements of getting rid of Saddam Hussein and bringing freedom to Iraqi people have been tainted by the rise of violations it blames on the United States and its coalition partners Thank you moonbats. What are said violations? .This is a case of throwing the baby out with the Baath Party," said William Schulz (search), executive director of Amnesty International. That wasn't funny at all. That's a human rights violation. The White House and State Department responded that Amnesty has it backwards. Exposure of the brutality of Saddam's regime is doing more to advance the cause of human rights than years of U.N. resolutions and previous Amnesty reports ever accomplished. The administration added that freedom from tyranny is the fundamental human right from which all others eventually flow. "The world is rejoicing in the fact that, thanks to the efforts of the coalition, millions of people previously imprisoned are now free," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said. Wow! Even State is seing things clearly...you're really wrong AI. The administration added that Amnesty misses a key point in the war on terror — that terror groups, not nation states, pose the greatest threat to human rights. Finding and fighting terrorists where they hide is not always work that conforms neatly to the Geneva Convention. While Amnesty charged that the Iraq war distracted from the discussion on how to improve human rights worldwide, it [Amnesty] did not offer any opinion on whether it was satisfied with Libya's chairmanship of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. Amnesty cites Libya as a regular violator of human rights — one that routinely imprisons dissidents and tortures prisoners. More reasons to hate Amnesty.... It's Thursday! That means it's Ann Coulter Day! This week Ann directly takes a swipe at the eco-wackos, and in the process takes a shot at the UN and takes a really good shot at France. I must admit, while the content within Ann's piece is good, I think this week's aritcle is poorly written. Perhaps it's just me, but it doesn't seem to "flow" properly. Along those lines, it also seems like she's jumping from subject to subject too much. But aside from my evaluation of her writing style, the shot she takes at the Cheese eating surrender monkeys. As indicated earlier, the DSL connection here was down today, as such I didn't get to blog when I wanted to (collective "awww"). I'm hoping to reverse that pattern tomorrow, but here at home, I can never be sure. Here's my current thoughts: I need to make some additions to my BlogRoll...I just have to stop being lazy and do it already. There are some good sites out there I've been meaning to add for some time, it's just I keep forgetting or procrastinating to do so. Need to go to the library to get some more books to read. Anyone got any suggestions? I like using the summer to read books I wasn't able to read while swamped with work back at school. Ooh, that gives me an idea, perhaps I'll blog on some of the books I've read. I'm too tired to really blog much else right now....hopefully there'll be more tomorrow (sorry to dissapoint anyone) It's that time again! To see what the loony hard-hard-lefties at Brandeis are up to....This latest installment comes courtesy of the group "Students for Peace in Israel and Palestine" (SPIP)--which basically translates to: students apologizing for pali terror and discriminating against Jooooos However, today, an anti-idiotarian also took the time to call the loonies on their word and boy was it a good read. As such, I present to you the set of emails (first the SPIP email, then the responses). (Note: Names have been changed) A writes:

Three contextual notes: 1) The idea refered to in the second of the three letters, about Kahane's plan envisions Jordan as a pali state. Kahane also believed that Israeli arabs, who've been citizens since '48 should be allowed and in many cases encouraged to stay in Israel. Finally, for his ideas, Kahane and his Israeli political party were labled as "racists" and have since been barred for running for the Kinesset. (but that's a thorny issue). Note: I'm not a Kahanist, nor do I totally agree with his philosophies, I'm simply trying to explain them. 2) The stats criticized in the 3rd letter are unreliable stats anyway (see IMRA archives). 3) The SPIP wackos also support groups such as the ISM, which produces great "activists" like Rachel "corrugated" Corrie. Please tell me that this won't happen..."Clinton Wants Change in Presidential Term Limits..." No, two terms of your ass in office was more than enough. Just ask Dick Morris. our DSL went out here today at home, and it turns out the problem was crossed wires and water damage (it's a long wierd story). So a nice technician came out to the house and finally got things sorted out for us. Yay! So now I'm back online. Yep folks, it's that time again...according to the Plain Dealer, it's that time when the idea of a Constitutional Ammendment against flag burning (desecration) is brought up in Congress. The last time this issue came up was back in 2000 and before that 1995 (only to fall four votes and three votes short of the needed number in the Senate both times). A brief recap of the laws regarding flag burning/desecration. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in Texas V. Johnson 491 U.S. 397 (1989) that basically the desecration of the US flag, if done without phyisically harming anyone, is protected free speech as covered by the First Ammendment. (I've linked to the text of the decision, should anyone with to read the whole thing). Basically the court said that flag burning was "expressive conduct" because it was an attempt to "convey a particularized message." Now I personally disagree with the SCOTUS ruling, as I think flag burning is offensive and degrading and is an insult to the nation. I believe that buring the flag dishonors what our nation stands for. I also believe that it is an insult to all those who have made sacrifices to protect the flag and what it stands for, in some cases paying the ultimate price. (that's the "condensed" version of my beliefs). The reason I bring this issue up is in reference to another case decided 6-3 earlier this year VIRGINIA v. BLACK et al 01-1107 (2003). In this case, the SCOTUS basically said that VA's law, against cross burning was indeed constitutional, because the law can ban cross burnings (in this case KKK ones) that are intended to intimidate. Now don't get me wrong, I loate the KKK as much if not more than the next person, however, the SCOTUS has set up an interesting dilema for itself. It seems like the court somewhat contradicted itself saying that Flag burning is okay while cross burning isn't. How come the Klan was able to march through Skokie, IL all those years back then? My problem is with the fact that many see the desecration of the US flag as intimidation and a sign of mal intent--and following the VA v. Black ruling, such speech should be banned. I think that this recent ruling curbs free expression, which is troublesome (note: I still loathe the KKK and I condemn what they do). It's as someone wrote in the latest issue of Concord Bridge (Brandeis' only conservative-libertarian publication--shameless plug) wrote a piece on this ruling Now in my eyes, going along with the courts' latest ruling, I think that Flag desecration should be outlawed as it is an example of "hate speech" and intimidation in the eyes of many. As such, right now, I'm leaning towards the belief that the ammendment should pass (note: I may waver though). What do you think? Tuesday, May 27, 2003
My interview with the researcher/professor down at CWRU went well today! Yay! I think I've found summer employment! Hooray! (I still plan on posting more "regular content" later) My whole family got "grounded" from the computer and TV today, for no other reason than my mom said so. (that's how things work in these parts -- as for reasons, I dunno). I'd originally wanted to write more about memorial day, and two articles which appeared in today's Plain Dealer, alas, I don't have time to right now, so I hope to do it tomorrow. I can summarize one of 'em by saying that it was an article where theologans (sp?) discussed whether Op. Iraqi Freedom was "just" or "unjust". One of those interviewed, has a son who attends Brandeis with me (and I'm ideological and mortal enemies with this moonbat socialist and anti-war groupie), and the guy came out saying that it was a just war. I guess it's sweet revenge in a twisted way. Speaking of the anti-war crowd, here's what they seem to be up to...(note: it's from the AP; not DU or IndyMedia) So just a few articles to link to tonight: First off, for those of you SUV drivers out there (e.g. LC Victor), here's a piece that will help you beat down the Ariana Huff-and-puffington crowd. Second, Fmr. Pres Clinton is out on the speaking circut (again), and the headline of this article: "Clinton Sees Distorted Media". The first line: "Former President Bill Clinton says this country's media culture tends to distort the true political record"....I'll let you reach your own conclusions on that one. From the same article, another Clinton quote: "Similarly, he criticized himself for a lack of oversight that led to 18 deaths of U.S. servicemen when a helicopter was downed in Somalia in 1993". I think lack of oversight is a major understatement. From denying the Pentagon's request for backup troops, APCs, etc. he really gave those guys a cf to deal with. Now back to the war on terror... Fortunately, we've nabbed another Al-Qadea member here in the US and not a minute too soon if I may say so myself. US News & World Report also has a good piece out this week on the CIA and the WoT Finally, a bit of humor, An all-inclusive Memorial Day celebration The highlight of which is: Marching closely behind, throwing candy to kids, and occasionally "accidentally" bayoneting Moore's frumpy potato sack of a butt, are representatives from all branches of the service Go read the rest... This poem is an Israeli one, written in Hebrew by Natan Alterman. It's read in Israel on Israel's memorial day, but I think the message that it sends is relevant to us here in the US too (just change the references from Israel to the US)
Please read the following proclamation from George W. Bush, President of the United States of America, asking us to remember our fallen heroes on this day. G-d bless our troops. [this is a developing post] I just got this month's issue of Maxim in the mail...and what a great issue! A full section on FRANCE BASHING!!!! Hooray! And a section on mental disorders (sorry, it's the neuroscience bias), plus all the other great stuff that's in Maxim on a monthly basis! Hooray!!!!! As many know, I'm anything but a fan of the Syrian From the AP Wire: Syrian President Doubts Al Qaeda Exists How much Hashish did the optomologist turned dictator (a.k.a. Assad) smoke before this interview? Let's try to find out! Syrian President Bashar Assad (search) said in an interview published Sunday that he doubts the existence of Al Qaeda What the fuck? No, Al-queda isn't like the tooth-fairy you tin foil hat fool. Come on, even Dowd, Moore, Fisk, Ivins acknowledge that Al-Qaeda exists. "Is there really an entity called Al Qaeda? Was it in Afghanistan? Does it exist now?" Assad asked, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Anba. The answer is "yes" to all three. I think this doc smoked too much "medical hashish"...perhaps his vision is poor. Usama bin Laden, the Saudi-born Islamic extremist who heads Al Qaeda, "cannot talk on the phone or use the Internet, but he can direct communications to the four corners of the world?" Assad said. "This is illogical." No it isn't you shmuck. You've probably never heard of the NSA. UBL puts his voice on a tape and somehow gets it delivered to Al-Jazeera...that's how he communicates. Or he uses human "carrier pigeons" to carry messages. America is happy with Syria and the Arab countries when Israel is happy with them," [said assad] Um...no. That's why the US used to be happy with Iraq? (Whom Israel has never been happy with). And there's good reason to hate your fuckin' terrorist state. "Israel is a state that occupies our land and we are required to take its interests into account? What logic is that? We say America is the effective power, our relationship should be direct with it." WahWahWah...I hear little Bashar crying. The syrians started attacking Israel in '67 and seized the Golan Heights, which your daddy used to shell innocent Israelis, to launch terror raids and to divert water from the J-E-W-S. Occupied your land, bullshit. And America doesn't want to deal with you Saddam supporting teze Threatening sanctions, U.S. officials accused Syria of harboring terrorists and fleeing members of Iraq's ousted regime, possessing weapons of mass destruction and providing Iraq with military equipment. Syria denied the accusations. Ever heard of Hizbullah--that's a terror group, hosted by Syria. Iraqi leaders were found in Syria....so stop your lying you kusemekiym Assad also told Al-Anba that Syrian forces will remain in Lebanon until a comprehensive peace settlement with Israel is reached, rebuffing recent U.S. calls for a Syrian troop withdrawal from the country. Ha ha ha...that's a funny one Assad. You get to occupy all of Lebanon and rule it as a puppet state...and you blame Israel for everything else. Assad said Syria viewed Lebanon as an independent state and that Syrian troops were needed to confront potential Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Syria. Oh man, my bullshit meter is about to break. Lebanon is a Syrian puppet state. Here's an analogy Lebanon is to Syria as Abu Mazen is to Terrorfat. Syria has no buisness being in Lebanon, in fact, there's a good chance Israel would have a treaty with the Lebanese if Syria would withdraw it's troops and its HIzbullah militants from there. I'm back in Cleveland now, after visiting my grandparents. We came back this evening, so I got to enjoy the day with my gradparents (For those unfamiliar with Ohio geography, Youngstown is only about an hour drive from Cleveland). Watched some FNC with the family (yes, I was going through withdrawl w/o the Fair and Balanced Coverage of Fox News...) and was well fed by grandma. I have a lead on a possible job for the summer, so I'm a bit excited, however, it is only a lead, so I'm still cautious, and I don't wanna jinx it. It's a neuroscience lab job, and the lab director is a Brandeis alum...which could be good or bad. Anyway, I haven't thought of much to blog about tonight yet. Emperor Misha did a post about my alma matter (Yeah Shaker! GO RAIDERS!). Go read it! Ogbu is right in his study's findings. Hmm....not much else to say now. I'm dissapointed that the Israeli cabinet "Accepted" the roachmap....but I think the Israelis have a trump card up their sleeves. Well, off to the new LC chatroom... I'm in Youngstown, OH right now, at my grandparents house. I'm connected to the web via what seems like a snails pace 56k modem. As such, I can't blog much, but I just felt like blogging from the road. It's good to see the grandparents, they're doing well all things considered (thank G-d), especially my favorite veteran, Grandpa. (US Army Air Force, WWII--Honorable discharge--Tech Sgt.). Grandma had chicken soup waiting for us (wooohoo!) It was amazing as usual. And my grandparents also have cable here, so I got to see Fox News for the first time in two weeks...I was undergoing withdrawl... I'll blog later today (Sunday) once I get back to Cleveland, and I'll include some memorial day musings. Off to bed... Friday, May 23, 2003
So I've been stuck cleaning my room here (note: a mess that I didn't even make, as my 'rents made it as I was away at school--but I'm still responsible). I've got the radio on and Rush is currently on (it's the best thing on now--local radio sux). El Rushbo, is hammering away at Tom "Puff" Dashle (D-SD), on the tax cut (somewhat like an audio fisking at times), so he gave me an idea...let's see what Brandeis' loony leftists are up to now! The latest emails are about the (lying, anti-Israel) NYT journalist Chris Hedges, who (rightfully) got booed off the stage at Rockford Colleges commencement for giving an offensive anti-war speech. So first from the "Students for a Just Society list" we have the following comments:
You know what, you're right! People didn't and still don't want to hear your anti-American propaganda and BS arguments (many of which are fabrications). For example, the argument one that UN sanctions killed Iraqi children...which was DEBUNKED by Iraqi doctors. Didn't you fools learn when Professor Cohen shot down Ben Brandzel '03 at "Ben and Jerry"? You should've been parying attention. Oh and a "PS" the war in Iraq...it's over. Then from Gordie's "concerned" list....
Okay, I'm imagining....and I think I'd be booing like my peers. But wait, isn't this what you "progressives" constantly do?
NO! NO! NO! Our school motto is "truth unto it's innermost parts" this NYT liar is a contradiction of that term. Plus his vehimently Anti-Israel rhetoric is not representative of Brandeis. (And that's being polite). Those were Gordy's "words of enlightenment" and then came the forwarded email text:
This guy needs to get out ot his ivory tower. It was a bad speech, full of lies and falsehoods, and derrogatory statements. The latter reason is why it angered so many students and parents. No, not all in the media are "lapdogs for Bush"....where'd you come up with that idea? Ever read the NYT? LA Times? Globe? ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN? They're anything but "lapdogs" for Bush (or any other conservatives) in fact they're the opposite. Open up your eyes (and ears maybe). So let's look at the text of the speech and find what could've angered people: Keep in mind, this was supposed to be a commencement address. For we are embarking on an occupation that, if history is any guide, will be as damaging to our souls as it will be to our prestige, power, and security. Not an occupaation. This strengthens our country and our security. But this will come later as our empire expands and in all this we become pariahs, tyrants to others weaker than ourselves We're not empire building you yutz, and we were going after the ones who made us targets (trans. Terrorists). . Isolation always impairs judgment and we are very isolated now. We have forfeited the good will, the empathy the world felt for us after 9-11 Um, Coalition of the Willing had 60+ countries...how is that Isolation? We haven't forefitted the good will either, crackhead. We have folded in on ourselves, we have severely weakened the delicate international coalitions and alliances that are vital in maintaining and promoting peace I think that's the way that the "liberal elites" say: "UN"---which deserved to crash and burn already. we are part now of a dubious troika in the war against terror with Vladimir Putin and Ariel Sharon, two leaders who do not shrink in Palestine or Chechnya from carrying out acts of gratuitous and senseless acts of violence. We have become the company we keep. WOAH! Hold on there! Where is this "Palestine" you speak of? There is no such land. Nor are Israel's raids against terrorists "gratutious and senseless acts of violence"!?!? What's blowing up a bus with men, women and children on it called? Or killing a 10 month old baby with a sniper rifle as she sits in her father's arms (Shalhevet Pas)? That's not senseless? You Robert Fisk sycophant. The censure and perhaps the rage of much of the world, certainly one-fifth of the world's population which is Muslim, most of whom I'll remind you are not Arab, is upon us. No, only the radical Islamofacists. Remember all the happy Iraqis that we saw when we liberated 'em? And this rage in a world where almost 50 percent of the planet struggles on less than two dollars a day will see us targeted. Under tyrants, communism and socialism--not under capitalism. Terrorism will become a way of life, and when we are attacked we will, like our allies Putin and Sharon, lash out with greater fury. Ya know why? Cause it's us or them...and we're gonna kick their asses and show 'em American Justice. just because we have the capacity to wage war it does not give us the right to wage war We have the right to protect ourselves and our allies. The real injustices, the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land Bullshit. (Gives the guy the finger). Somebody fetch B.C.--this guy is getting annoying. the brutal and corrupt dictatorships we fund in the Middle East, will mean that we will not rid the extremists who hate us with bombs Okay, no more cash to Egypt, Lebanon, Fraudi Arabia...sounds good to me....oh, same goes for the PLO. We'll rid the extremists by any means necessary. We have blundered into a nation we know little about and are caught between bitter rivalries and competing ethnic groups and leaders we do not understand Outside of Foggy Bottom we understand it. Hence the reason why we have the INC. We are trying to transplant a modern system of politics invented in Europe characterized, among other things, by the division of earth into independent secular states based on national citizenship in a land where the belief in a secular civil government is an alien creed. Iraq was a cesspool for the British when they occupied it in 1917; it will be a cesspool for us as well Times have changed since the British occupation. Oh, and the system of politics has worked in Israel....that was once a land under British rule. You're really striking out here you howling moonbat. Christian Evangelical groups who are being allowed to follow on the heels of our occupying troops to try and teach Muslims about Jesus. What about you "human shields" and others in ANSWER who supported Saddamy? Hedges stops speaking because of a disturbance in the audience Wasn't me.... don't look here... The occupation of the oil fields To prevent saddam from bombing 'em and an enviromental disaster and protecting the funds that'll be used to rebuild Iraq. The looting of Baghdad, or let me say the looting of Baghdad with the exception of the oil ministry and theinterior ministry -- the only two ministries we bothered protecting -- is self immolation Like the looting of the art museum that the NYT fudge numbers on? Did Jason Blair write that story? Oh, and it was an inside job too. Also, what's wrong with looting Saddam's palaces, the stuff belongs to the people. As someone who knows Iraq, speaks Arabic, and spent seven years in the Middle East, Go inflate your ego you moonbat. It was Israel who created Hezbollah and was Hezbollah that pushed Israel out of Southern Lebanon. Wrong again: Iran and Syria created Hezbollah, and still supply it. The Israelies withdrew b/c of a peace accord and UN resolution (and int'l pressure). You ignoramus. And if you watch closely what is happening in Iraq, if you can see it through the abysmal coverage, you can see it in the lashing out of the terrorist death squads Lashing out of the terror death squads? You mean the ones we've captured or killed? We will pay for this, but what saddens me most is that those who will by and large pay the highest price are poor kids from Mississippi or Alabama orTexas who could not get a decent job or health insurance and joined the army because it was all we offered them You're implying southern youth are too stupid or inept to get jobs, aren't you? Huh? That's a bunch a BS. You elitiest New Yorker...saying all there good for is the army? Huh? What if they chose to serve their country as proud Americans? (I know he doesn't like that line) Following our defeat in Vietnam we became a better nation How? Carter took office? Only when Ronaldus Maximus came into the White House did we become a better nation (cause we won the Cold War)!!! We were humbled, even humiliated. We asked questions about ourselves we had not asked before. Like why the hell were we fighting a war that we wern't allowed to win? We had such strict ROE that it handicapped us. But we ultimately won the war. We were forced to confront our own capacity for a atrocity -- for evil You mean as humans? No, we confronted it after WWII. War, we have come to believe, is a spectator sport Um, only if war is football. It's not a sport and we loathe it as much as you do, but we believe that there are times when we water the tree of liberty with the blood of patriots and tyrants. (Quoting Jefferson). The military and the press -- remember in wartime the press is always part of the problem Yes, the NYT and BBC, publishing lies and falsehoods about what happened was a problem. turned war into a vast video arcade game No, only in arcades. Its very essence -- death -- is hidden from public view. No. Fox News showed the names and pictures of the fallen American heroes. We realize death, and it's ultimate costs.Take off your blinders. Because we no longer understand war, we no longer understand that it can all go horribly wrong Yeah we do. We still have blue-on-blue fire. We've seen things FUBARed. Case in point--Mogadishu (Black Hawk Down). And at a time of soaring deficits From overspending by the Federal gov't. Let's cut some expenditures. Let's take away KKK Byrd and Teddy Kennedy's pork first. And let's have a TAX CUT to increase federal revenue. and financial scandals and the very deterioration of our domestic fabric, war is a fine diversion This ain't wag the dog, nor does it have anything to do with Enron. That's old news. Deterioration of domestic fabric? Huh? You mean the lack of morals in society these days? Or the hyper-PCness being preached? (A man in the audience says: "Can I say a few words here?" Hedges: Yeah, when I finish.) No! I say let the man speak and prove you to be the asshat that you are Hedges. Once in war, the conflict obliterates the past and the future all is one heady intoxicating present. You feel every heartbeat in war, colors are brighter, your mind races ahead of itself. Keep yapping... (Confusion, microphone problems, etc.) What? Did Frank J's"BIll the Marine" enter? We feel in wartime comradeship. (Boos) No Comerade--we beat the USSR. We feeel brotherly bonds with other Americans, except you "anti-war" pro-dictator creeps. We confuse this with friendship, with love. There are those who will insist that the comradeship of war is love -- the exotic glow that makes us in war feel as one people, one entity, is real, but this is part of war's intoxication. This guy is spewing more BS then a sociology professor! he's totally wrong. Ask a member of the Armed forces about their bonds with their fellow troops....they'll set you straight. Think back on the days after the attacks on 9-11. Suddenly we no longer felt alone; we connected with strangers, even with people we did not like Mostly true, except for the last part. I didn't feel connected with any Islamofacists. We felt we belonged, that we were somehow wrapped in the embrace of the nation, the community; in short, we no longer felt alienated We didn't feel alienated before...most of us at least. As this feeling dissipated in the weeks after the attack No, it didn't dissipate, rather true-patriotic Americans stayed close together and formed stronger bonds. The danger of the external threat that comes when we have an enemy does not create friendship; it creates comradeship NYET! When an external threat rears it's damn ugly head, we become brothers and sisters, members of a family dedicated to protecting what's ours and our siblings. And those in wartime are deceived about what they are undergoing Howling moonbat Friends probe and question and challenge each other to make each of us more complete; with comradeship, thekind that comes to us in patriotic fervor, there is a suppression of self-awareness, self-knowledge, and self-possession. Friends trust their lives with their fellow friends, comrades don't. In the armed forces people are friends...not "comerades". And don't debase patriotism...you can be proud of the USA, and be self-aware, knowledgable adn self-possesive. In comradeship there are no demands on the self Comerad--that is because Mother Russia does everything for you. True friendship and the bonds of brotherhood established in our fighting forces is on a totally higher level, because it demands a lot of oneself. We ennoble self-sacrifice for the other, for the comrade; We mourn their passing and the sacrifices they have made for the rest of us. in short we begin to worship death No we don't! We just honor their memory and contributions. For friends, dying is hard and bitter It is too for soldiers. Just ask any war vet. Friends do not, the way comrades do, love death and sacrifice. To friends, the prospect of death is frightening Damn you! No body loves death besides sick tyrannical dictators. Soldiers abhor death and sacrifice, but they do what they know they must do, so idiots like you can speak freely. To almost all, the prospect of death is frightening--were it not, it would be a sad day. And this is why friendship or, let me say love, is the most potent enemy of war Aww...the hell with you! Go back to the 60s (cause you wanna be there). We love America, we want to see it safe, so we sometimes have to go to war, for this country we love. Are you implying that we should love those who hate us? Love an Islamofacist? What did you smoke today? What kind of commencement address was that? What are the students gonna take from it? They missed an oppertunity to get a great speech. (Boos cheers, shouts, fog horns and the like) That's more fitting I'd think.... By the powers vested in me, by um, my ego, and um...yeah... Whereas, the disgusting organization known as the "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals" (PETA) has once again defamed the memory of those murdered by the Nazis in the holocaust. And how PETA wanted to use the neo-nazi piece of scum David "KKK" Duke in an anti-milk ad. I, Josh, of JawsBlog, hereby issue a call for the holding of a second "INTERNATIONAL EAT AN ANIMAL FOR PETA DAY!". (Date: TBA, open to suggestions). This day shall be modeled after the one which Meryl Yourish originally proclaimed. It is my hope that this day can again be spread throughout the Blogsphere, and that all will become People Eating Tasty Animals on that day. Woohooo!!! A tax cut just passed the Senate (51-50--the VP came out of his "mystery secured location to break the tie), and the House passed it 231-200....meaning, the President is gonna sign the Tax Cut into law! Hooray! Less taxes...economic stimulus! (Note: you should be celebrating this) Granted, I still think the tax code needs overhauled, big time, but we'll save that for another day. Today the IDF announced that "naval commandos intercepted a boat from Lebanon loaded with weapons bound for Palestinian Authority areas, about 150 kilometers off the northern Israeli coast". What was on said boat? Among other things: Two Hizbullah operatives, one of whom was "Hamad Abu Amara (a bigtime Hizbullah Bomb-maker, who was headed to instruct terrorists in the Gaza Strip on how to put together the unspecified amount of explosives captured on board the ship, media reports said." Now does this remind anyone of any recent history? Does the name "Karine-A" ring a bell? The boat smuggling 2.5+ tons of explosives from Iran to Terrorfat and the Palis. The boat that the Israeli Navy just nabbed was ordered by guess who? And guess who it was going to? (If you said Terrorfat; and pali terrorists, you win a prize)! (LGF has the links to the articles for this story) This may be the straw that breaks the camel's back for Arafat, as it was the Karine A incident that made Bush give up hope/respect for that murdering SOB. (as David Frum points out in his book). In other Israel news, Brandeis' commencement speaker, Israeli Supreme Court Justice Aharon Barak got chewed out by Knesset Speaker Ruby Rivlin (at a conference, not in the Knesset, which would've been the more ideal setting). But Barak and some of his supporters didn't take the criticism sitting down Also in Israel news, looks like the pro-terror folk at the ISM are struggling for members, as Amish Tech Support points out. (Hat tip to Rush for posting it)
Jared over at the Politiblog has posted pix of hot conservative chicks for this week! Woohoo! These pictures reflect what Brandeis needs...simply, good looking women. (Oh, and for the females, Jared has posted some pix for your enjoyment too). And while there, be sure to wish him congrats on finishing his junior year of HS! LC Victor has once again made a bold venture, and examined Barbra Streisands' website (his poor eyes!) And no, I wasn't aware that she was given an honorary Diploma by Brandeis in 1996. Anyone know why she'd get one? Next year, they really better have some good recipients. Speaking of Brandeis' graduation (a.k.a. "commencement excercises"), you can get the recap on it here(along with the text of Justice Barak's speech). Ha'aretz today ran a really neat article, about neuroscience and engineering, and it's a really interesting read (even for non-science people). While it may seem "sci-fi"ish, it's actually very true and facinating, but I'll spare you the technical details. And in Celebration of Ann Coulter day, I present an attempted uber-liberal retort at Ann. While the author does present some truths about Ann (the obvious ones), he then dissolves into ideological sour-grapes, and it reads like any other piece of garbage from that magazine. I wonder what the same publication would have to say about...oh...Ivins, Dowd, Fisk...oh wait, they worship them. Last, but not least, somehow the Cavs have managed to get the First Pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. They had a 22.5% chance of getting it (having the worst record in the league last year). So it looks like Lebron James will be staying here in North Eastern Ohio, with his new $95 million shoe deal with Nike.... Thursday, May 22, 2003
I just had my first 40oz. Slurpee in who knows how long (too long to be honest)...mmm....Slurpees....mmm.... (yes, I was raised on slurpees and as such am somewhat "addicted" to them) It's THURSDAY meaning it's Ann Coulter Day. I don't like this week's column too much, as I think she's just a little too late to jump on the Blair bashing bandwagon this time around. Sorry Ann. It's also a special day because over at the PolitiBlog it's hot conservative chick day! (alas, not until the evening, but I'll link to it then). Also, in a very, very, very, special appearance, the Imperial Torturer Himself...B.C. has posted a Fisking over at the Emperor's site. You must read it immediately! More good news will hopefully be forthcoming! Mom and my sister fight too much. For those of you who know me personally, you're probably on the doubled-over on the floor laughing your ass off right now, as you know that such headache delivering arguments occur multiple times per day. Today was no exception. With that personal aside out of the way, it's on to tonight's blogging (cheers!) Let's start off with....a combo of domestic and int'l politcs: (Kosher Joe) Lieberman: Democrats should not be silent on Mideast peace (from Ha'aretz/AP). This is a big, shot in the foot for the Dems should it be true, especially Kosher Joe (I just like using that nickname, it's catchy). What's the problem? First off, it looks like Lieberman is supporting the screwed up State Dep't. sponsored "Roadmap", in theory which is doomed to fail. (For more on the state dep't, Instapundit has a story)--however, at least Lieberman notes that in its present form it won't work. I don't think that any of the other dem candidates will be that forthcoming on it. I won't belabor you with a discussion on why the roadmap is doomed to fail here (go visit Israpundit for more through analysis), Second, the dems have failed to realize that the Jewish vote isn't totally theirs anymore, a significant segment of it may either be moving towards Bush (and or the GOP) or be moving into the gray "toss-up zone", as this FrontPage article examines. Staying on domestic issues, are there still 9 Democratic presidential candidates? I've lost track (and interest in following all of 'em). A big even huge shocker came today, when a poll came out from the People's Republic of Taxachussets, indicating that were the election today GWB would have a 6% lead over homeboy Sen. Kerry. What's so significant about this? Besides the fact that a Republican has an advantage in the polls in MA, four months ago, Kerry had a 16% lead! That's a change of 22%! Wow! I wonder if this will get reported in the Boston Globe (which also used to employ Jason Blair). Apparently, Blair had some "choice words" to describe his Globe colleagues. As for Boston, this story alleging that the guy who oversaw the farce known as the "Big Dig" is looking over the reconstruction of Iraq is a very, very bad sign. Oh and do you know how many billions of your Federal Tax dollars have been poured into the Big Dig? You'd probably rather not know. To round out discussion on the Dem. candidates for President, Denny Kucinich was caught fudging numbers at a campaign speech. (He still has no chance of winning the nomination either way). There's more in this story that's blogging-worthy, and I hope to get back to it. Moving over to Israel, there's this nugget of news: Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom Accuses Int´l Organizations Of Harboring Terrorists *Cough* ISM...ISM *cough* To quote FM Shalom:
What else must I say? *Cough* ISM...ISM *cough* So apparently a really anti-Israel (and apparently anti-American) NYT writer gave the commencement adress at a University. By commencement address, I mean anti-American diatribe--to which he was greeted with boos and protests from the audience. Good for the audience. When I first saw the headline on Drudge's site, I thought he was booed for being from the NYT (makes sense, no?). But then when I read the garbage he spewed...I can understand why the students and people were so upset. Nor do I have too much sympathy for him, when he claims the experience was "heartbreaking". This topic has been covered enough elsewhere on the blogsphere. Now I grew up a baseball fan, and I remember "Way-back-when" when Bobblehead dolls were just a baseball thing, and they still had a novelty to 'em. These days, everything is a bobblehead, and they've lost their charm. And when I say everything, I'm not kidding--as there are now Chief Justice Rheinquist Bobbleheads. Why? Finally, Jonah Goldberg, has written a series of three articles attempting to define what the heck a "neo-conservative" actually is. Here's the link to the third article, and it's very interesting. Jonah also goes out and once again manages to bash the lefty-idiot extrordinaire Eric Alterman. I can't wait to see Jonah's revie of Alterman's book. Wednesday, May 21, 2003
Back to domestic politics: Sen. Robert "KKK" Byrd (KKK-D-WV) has again been blabbering in the Senate. His latest quote, courtesy of the Israeli media: "Democratic Senator Byrd accuses Bush of constructing `house of cards, built on deceit` to justify war on Iraq" Here's my totally irrational theory behind Byrd's opposition to the war: He liked the fact that saddam funded groups that had people wearing white sheets over their heads (hamas) armed with weapons....it reminded him of his past. My message to KKK Byrd: STFU and stop wasting tons of Federal funds on your damn pork projects Oh, and for anyone who cares, golf has been called off for today. Update: Here's an article from the WaPo on Byrd's idiotic speech. From Ha'aretz's ticker: 18:40 PM Abu Mazen: Arafat remains at the top of the PA, `we do not do anything without his approval` Here's the link to the full article (It's in English) Told you he was Terrorfat's Puppet! To those regular readers, sorry I didn't post yesterday, I accidentally fell asleep while reading a book and didn't realize I'd done so till about, oh 3am-ish. Yesterday was an interesting day. Besides the usual routine of getting yelled at, I had to accompany my brother golfing (with his middle school golf club). Now ideally you'd think "aww..isn't that cute, older brother helping younger brother". Alas, I don't live in an ideal world. Long story short, my brother first picked up a club last week (for an hour at the driving range), and yesterday we were playing nine holes. I am not a golfer either, I went to golf camp for a week years and years ago, but I'm not much better, which is why I was hesitant to go. Nevertheless, I wound up "caddying" for my brother for the eight holes he played, before the So as for the storms yesterday, the rain started just as we finished the 8th hole. Then I got a call from my sister saying she needed picked up from dad's office which is down at CWRU. So from the golf course, I stopped home, dropped my brother off (it's on the way), then went down to CWRU. Problem was, the rain that we got fell so fast, and the ground was already saturated, that the roads started to flood. I almost hydroplaned who knows how many times on the way there. To make matters worse, the CWRU campus area is downhill from the eastern suburbs, so as I traveled down the hills, I must've been driving through a virtual river. Then I got home, and got stuck playing the "try to get your brother to do his homework" game. Let me tell you, that it is neither fun nor easy to play that game. And that backfired, and mom got mad, and the cycle-of-me getting yelled at continued. Today I've gotta look for jobs (pre-golfing) and take care of some other stuff around here. I've already vaccumed my room, cleaned and scrubbed the bathroom. Gotta go find some more chores to do I think. I promise more blogging later, as I've come across many a good story, and I'll interject some comments with 'em as well. Back to work.... Tuesday, May 20, 2003
Being home sux. I don't know how else to put it. When I'm home, I officially become the scapegoat for everything (even things I had nothing to do with). For example, the other day I found out my (local) library card has been suspended with a $27 fine (!?!). What's the fine from? A video--a video one of my parents took out while I was away at school freshman year and returned uber-late. And this took place in 2001--and whose fault is it? According to them--it's mine. Or today, mom decides its finally time to write thank you notes for my little bro's bar mitzvah gifts (note: His bar mitzvah took place in Jan 2003--this is 4 mos. later). So who gets blamed for the delay??? Me. How--I dunno. (Nota bene: logic doesn't apply in my house). And people ask why I dislike being home so much....and why I can be so cranky in some of my postings. Let's just say that I'm from a very disfunctional home. So down to blogging. Plain Dealer had a little blurb today on how some nutcase University Circle Police officer decided to write-up parking tickets while the standoff was going on in the Peter B. Lewis building. Fortunately, the department got wind of this, and voided all said tickets. PD also made the bad choice of running Maureen Dowd's latest scribble (orig. from the NYT). From reading her pieces I'm starting to think that she's got a problem with men or testosterone (in general). This week she babbled about the Matrix 2 (As I have yet to see the film, I only skimmed the column). She goes on to talk about "guy films" and "Chick flicks" and she's whining about something. Then of course, out of no where, comes the tie in of testosterone, power and "myths" to Karl Rove. Dowd goes onto pout about how he's aranged good photo-ops for GWB (good backgrounds--e.g. Mt. Rushmore, the "helping small buisness" signs...), which in my book is just smart politics. But of course, Dowd doesn't like it (she must have detected some testosterone). Then Dowd tries to tie GWB's re-election campaign to the Matrix 2 (Huh? Can someone explain this to me?). And she ends with the line: "Testosterone as a campaign accessory. Because some things never change" (hence my belief that she's got something against men right now). This week, again, her editorial starts off with some random topic, and of course she then tries (out of thin air)_to take a weak cheap shot at GWB. She's punching air to say the least. So apparently I'm still on the list of "Kinda Scary Websites", even though, I'm not sure I deserve such an honor. I still think there are many others more deserving of said honor then me. The author of this list apparently has posted a follow-up. In it he says:
Well, as I've said before, I don't fit into the stereotype very well. I haven't had time to really look over his site, nor have I had time to comment on any posts there or in his forum. If I was at school and wasn't being harrassed and harrangued by my folks every 5 seconds, things would be different, but alas, I'm stuck here at home. So that's my response to that. Second, a response to the comments from my prior post:
I'm familiar with metaphor, perhaps re-read the sentence and look at the tone. And I know what "reminiscent" means. Even though I hate English classes I do have a vocabulary, and I do read a lot for fun. Again, the guy behind AWW hasn't seemed to pick up on my sarcastic sense of humor. Nor has he read enough of what I've written to realize I'm nothing like what he accuses me of potentially being. Okay, now totally moving on to other things in the blogsphere: Jonah Goldberg again shows his brilliance! (Did I mention that he's writing a book too!!!). And he's got a good sense of humor. Glenn Reynolds discusses his shopping preferences and discusses frivilous lawsuits against gun-companies. I personally think that most (if not all) of these stupid law-suits shouldn't even get to the courts (and I'm talking outside of the gun issue). He also shows how incompetent the FBI manages to be as well. I meant to blog more, but I'm too tired to do so. Goodnight, and hopefully I'll have a chance to blog tomorrow... Monday, May 19, 2003
I'm not big on philosophers or that big on "in-depth" philosophy either. I'm not quite sure why. Perhaps it's because I perfer discussing realistic things rather than the completely abstract. I've also been turned off to philosophy as part of the liberal arts education I get at school. I've learned that a lot of philosopy is just a bunch of refined b.s. Many of the philosophy profs at school seem to be people who act like they're superior to everyone else (even though, they're on the bottom of the academic food-chain). They act all high and lofty, and elitist, like they're in a class by themselves and the rest of us are just peons. This attitude of theirs is not confined to the classroom, as it seems to be present at other times as well. With that preface, I'm now going to move on to the main portion of this post, a letter from a philosophy professor at CWRU that ran in Sunday's issue of the Cleveland Plain Dealer regarding the May 9th shooting at CWRU's Peter B. Lewis Building (Note: I encourage you to look at the pictures of the building, as its really an interesting design). Another note: some of the articles I'll be refering to can be found on this page Criticism that the Peter B. Lewis building's labyrinthine "riot of creative chaos" exacerbated the danger of the attack on Case Western Reserve University is misguided. Yes, the building did not have any right angles within it, and it had large areas of open (uncovered) spaces inside. But let's see where this is going now... First, it would be a very sad day indeed if university architecture were based on how easily a SWAT team might track down a wacko. Well, the moral of this story is that the SWAT team needs to be prepared for such buildings in the future. Ironically the SWAT team was out praciticing at a warehouse when the call came in (most of the SWAT teams' calls are for "normal" buildings--see a PD article). But perhaps such things should be taken into architectural consideration. Furthermore, this guy is beyond being a wacko, he has long needed professional help, as he (among other things) was a member of the tin foil brigades. Moreover, the design saved lives. During those crucial first minutes, students dived for cover in the many nooks and crannies. Not completely true. People ducked into offices for cover. People from all floors were able to look through the atrium and see blood and shell casings. Not totally true either--they heard the (distinct) sounds of gun-fire. The building allowed them time and resources for thought beyond traditional designs Alas, this may have been true, but it also impeded the progress the police made. Because of the wacky architecture, it took about 45 minutes to secure a floor in the building. Also, the open spaces gave the gunman an advantage, as it made the cops "sitting ducks" at times. It hindered the gunman and police equally in searching and killing, No, it hindered the cops more. The gunman fired at random. The only reason there was less bloodshed was that the gunman was a crappy shot and one weapon apparently jammed. but it facilitated constructive communication. wtf? What's "constrructive communication"? This is the kind of thing I don't like about philosophers. The creative design begot individual creativity as people took rational, effective action Again, wtf? Rational action--hiding for ones life (an instinctive action if you ask me). The episode was protracted, but far less panicky and fatal than it might have been in a more traditional building Wrong. Were this a traditional building, the cops would've gotten to the perp much, much faster. It would've also been less panicky as people would be more aware of what was going on. . It is heartbreaking to lose a great mind like Norman Wallace Yes it is (Wallace was the first year MBA student killed in the assult). but the low casualty rate vindicates the ideals of the university he loved. CWRU's vision shone through, even in the face of tragedy. I don't know what CWRU's ideals are, but what does this have to do with anything? The low casulty rate was not from the building, but rather, it was from the fact that the shooter had horrible aim (couldn't hit a target from 4 ft away), (a) bad gun (a "poor man's uzi" apparently)--which further worsened his aim. He had one gun jam on him and he wasn't skilled in reloading the weapons. All of this put together is why the casualty rate was lower. (plus a lot of luck). I don't think the building was the saving grace in this event--and what is this 'constructive communication' stuff you're blabbing about? This must be why philosophy is so low on the food-chain.... I was playing around earlier with Technorati earlier, and found myself listed on a blog I'd previously not heard of (Grouchy Old Cripple; don't worry, he's a good guy.) So I visited his blog and found where my blog was listed, under this post in which he notes that a new idiotarian website has a list of sites which:
And guess who heads up the list--none other then me! I'm honored, I'm flattered, I'm suprised. How am I the first blog listed? Must be some act of randomness. But looking at the other blogs on the list, I'm in good company! Let's see, we have: LGF, BlogsOfWar, Emperor Misha I, Stars and Stripes (and others). To think that I deserve to be in a category with such famous blogs, I am extremely humbled. However, I believe that there are other worthy blogs who should be added to the list. However, the idiotarian is quite stupid (duh) especially in his categorization of me. How? First off, he makes these remarks about being "reminiscent of white supremecy factions". Well there, seeming that I'm one of the number one most hated people by such factions (Jewish, hispanic, son of an immigrant), this guy is just fishing for an oxymoron. I needn't elaborate. Oh, and by the way, the link to the idiotarian blog's list of scary sites is here Sunday, May 18, 2003
(Via LGF) From IMRA: The architect of the Oslo Disaster, Shimon Peres, made some remarks to Israel Radio today that border on criminal stupidity.
Personally, I find these comments beyond extremely perplexing (if not extremely stupid). Afterall, if Sharon were to have made concessions, would that not be concedeing to terror? What good would that do Israel?!?!?!? Second, if suicide bombers aren't "terror", then what is? Third, Shimon--is it perhaps time for you to (finally) retire from the Israeli political scene? Perhaps all the years you spent sitting through the balagan known as the Kinesset [Israel's parliment--which looks more like Jerry Springer than Congress] has affected your clear thinking. (Cross posted at JawsBlog and IsraPundit (From a friend's AIM Profile): "Those who are wise, their minds tend to the right those who are fools, their minds tend to the left" -Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) 10:2 Heh... Came across this post at
Now here are my thoughts: 1) At the site, anti-semitism is par for the course, but oh yeah, calling Jews "Zionazis" isn't hate speech now is it? (While saying Islamofacism is?) 2) What about all the posts in support of terrorists and terror supporters (e.g. the ISM) 3) Of course, they delete anything that includes the truth and/or common sense. Congrats to (almost*) all those members of the Class of 2003 who graduated from Brandeis today! * The exception being those people who I do not like, who know who they are, and most likely don't even know that I have a blog. Similarly, congrats to almost all those who received honororary diplomas except for Nancy Pelosi (D-Socialist-People's Republik of CA). I'm not even sure why Brandeis would give her a honorary diploma. What does she represent (in terms of Brandeis' goals and ideals)? But to everyone else, congrats Friday, May 16, 2003
I've come across this original letter from the Country of Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys (which should be paved), in which they whine about unfair media treatment and the like. My opinion? They can't handle the truth. Here's what Glenn Reynolds has to say on it, and here are Emperor Misha's remarks. Ironically, neither Dennis Miller nor Jonah Goldberg were mentioned.... After another day of running back and forth across the eastern suburbs running errands, I came home to check my email and such.... And it looks like the idiotarians back at Brandeis (and nation wide) are back in action again. I need my DissentCrushing ClueBat™.... or better yet, it looks like the BPUSZOSR™ is gonna be busy... Some examples: There's this email on one list from people for the American Way:
And ya know what? I'm sure the NYT is loving all this....heh. There's also the email about Depleted Uranium (which is junk science) Then there is Gordie extolling the "Bombing for Peace is like F---'ing for Virginity" signs, which are "new" to him (even though they're from the 60s--told you he was a tool). Gordie seems to forget the idea of "Peace through superior firepower"---as Jefferson once said: "Whatever enables us to go to war, secures our peace.". And here's another good one from the idiotarian brigades:
And this is from the people whining about Tax Cuts because the "defecit will grow too much"---Give me a break! We'd be spending MORE federal funds as a result of this stupid idea. We already have the US Inistitute of Peace (which Daniel Pipes should be on--sign the petition in support) . This is a bunch of BS if you ask me. We have colleges to tell us to hold hands and sing Kumbaya--why would we need a federal department? Write your congresspeople and tell 'em to shoot down this bill.... Hmm...what's next...there's another email lamenting the fact that the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) shot down Gephart and Dean for being too liberal in their presidential campaigns (suprised?). And so the Dean people are throwing a hissy fit about it, saying that activisim is the basis of the Demokratic party....and I quote:
Strategically speaking, the DLC is totally correct. People (esp. independents) vote for the candidate who appears to be based in the "center" of the political spectrum, by becoming uber-leftist, the Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot. Speaking of elections, President George W Bush announced that he's running for office again! (He filed the papers; this shouldnt be a suprise) Okay, back to idiotarianism.... Now from Gordie's "concerned" list (which normally features idiotarian crap like emails from CAIR, ADC, Michael Moore, ANSWER, MoveOn, NION, UFPJ--you get the idea)...comes an email from a liberal computer science prof. He vistited Grassfire.net which is a conservative activist siste and compared it to some idiotarian ones. Here's his analysis of the differences:
Um, okay, I'm sensing a tin-foil moonbat theme. And guess what, conservative websites have LESS money than your liberal ones....remember who funds ANSWER (et.al.)--the commie party, N. Korea, Castro....and what mind control techniques to we use?
Okay, maybe there's no need for tin-foil....
Ha, as Rush would say, typical liberal elitism.
Huh? What is he talking about? Can anyone explain? Investing in a bubble? Shopping? I'm okay with the extreme patriotism (which in their book is any type of patriotism). As for "Driving towards war", you mean the war that we won? Or are you saying that people who drive their SUVs (like LC Victor--who enjoys doing so) use oil, making us need to go to war for oil.
That explains the numerous idiotarian sites. Just look at Indymedia DU, et. al. You have more money, but a lot less truth (usually no truth). [Rush even provides truth] and finally:
It's an ad for NewsMax's "Weasel Playing cards", nor is it spam (as he's on an op-in/out list). and he calls these people "their friends!" Ha! I laugh at all of them (the idiotarians that is). Sigh...and finally, look at this discussion (notice the dates of the posts too). (I'm just rolling my eyes). Thursday, May 15, 2003
It's Thursday and not only is it Ann Coulter Day, and Michelle Malkin skewers Hillary Clinton (Socialist-NY) Day but more exciting....over at The PolitiBlog it's: Hot Conservative Chick Day! Now that's what Brandeis is missing: hot girls (of any political affiliation), and especially conservative ones. Happy Naqba day! What is Naqba day? In short naqba is Arabic for "catastrophe" and it refers to the creation of the State of Israel. To mark this day, scum like Terrorfat give speeches which say: "Israel is a Zionist colonialist conspiracy created on the rubbles of Palestine". But alas, I must ask, where is this Palestine you speak of? Lawrence of Amish Tech Support has this all covered. What a better way to celebrate Naqba Day then by baking a [Zionist] Settler nut cake. (For those curious, this is all based on the following thread at LGF) Fox News Channel anchor Shepard Smith was arrested by Florida police in November 2000. No biggie, we still like him (and his channel) anyway. Perhaps it's because of the "Fair and balanced" nature or is it because of the other reason we all watch FNC. Yes, it's apparently true, the cheese-eating surrender monkey's are watching us. Okay, let's all pretend to be scared and intimidated....oh wait, they've already raised the white flag. It's thursday, meaning that it's ANN COULTER DAY! Hooray!!! This week Ann, once again, takes it to the NYT....but this time she really takes it too them; as she's now armed with new (factual ammo). What are you waiting for? Read it already! Furthermore, whereas, it is Thursday, and in addition to it being Ann Coulter Day, over at the Politiblog it is also hot conservative chicks day! (I'll post the link once the pix are up). And the blogsphere rejoiced! Another crazy, crazy day...don't ask. Let me summarize it by saying that I'm not fond of being home. First, once and for all, we can put this whole USS Lincoln appearance issue to rest, as we say in Hebrew beseder ga'mur Okay, now with that out of the way, on to more important/interesting things... Remember the nutcase lawyer who wanted to sue to prevent kids from being able to purchase Oreos? Well, it turns out it was mostly a PR stunt for his "cause". I still think that the guy is an idiot (among other choice words). The whole case vaguely brought back memories of the attempted Phillip Morris/Kraft/Nabisco boycott at Brandeis which took place during the spring of 2002. The CIA continues to foul up, as does the Saudi gov't (more) [granted, in seperate instances] (hat tip to LGF on the latter). Some good news out of Iraq, many manuscripts are actually safe! Speaking of Iraq, some idiot got this article in the Boston Globe: Thank Clinton for a speedy victory in Iraq. Er....what's with the people at the Globe...perhaps they should've read this post (and see the comments over at Emperor Misha's Blog). Also in legal news, a jury has decided against the plaintiffs in a case blaming gun manufacturers for crime. While I"m not a gun person myself, I agree with the jury's decision, as the maker of the product ulitmately can't be held accountable for it. Speaking of dumb law suits, hopefully the British system also weeds out bad cases and tosses this one out Also, check out Jared's Fisking of HT....I'm still left wondering who would actually waste the time an effort to publish her. I have a feeling that I'm gonna be stuck home tomorrow (as I don't have a car, and mom has an abundance of errands to run), so I'm thinking of blogging more on the aftermath of the CWRU shootings, and the efftect which it is having on Ohio (which is an interesting subject--believe it or not). So that's on-deck, and I think there's a fisking or two I want to get to... Wednesday, May 14, 2003
The National Post (canada) fired Mark Steyn?!?!?! What the hell? This is absurd! It's an outrage! And while I'm blogging (I finally have a few free minutes), what's with (manyo of the) Dems in Texas. What a bunch of wimps they're being running away from the state to block the government. Emperor Misha puts these politicians in their place France says two French citizens arrested in Israel No word yet if they were ISM members. Be sure not to miss the text of Neil Cavuto (of FNC)'s on air Fisking of Paul Krugman of the NYT and the subsequent NRO take on it. I've had a crummy day, so what better way to end it then with a nice, through Fisking (of none other than Maureen Dowd). Fire up the BPUSZOSR™!: Look Good, Act Cool (NYT--5/11/03) Pressured by Christian groups, Wal-Mart announced last week that it would no longer carry Maxim, Stuff and FHM, the British laddie magazines that boil life down to a simple earthy equation of babes, beer, gear, cars, sports, abs and how to deal with a unibrow. Dios Mio! This is censorship! Someone is preventing alternative points of view! And wait, why were Men's mags the only ones removed? Why not remove Cosmo (and those things), they're just as "bad". And I'll have you know Ms. Dowd, Maxim is more than what you claim it to be--it's a good publication! What will I do now? (Besides the fact that I'm a maxim subscriber--don't ask, it's a joke from HS), I guess I'll have to go to 7-11 to get these mags (Note: I love 7-11). But what if Wal-Mart yanked Moore's pieces of trash, wouldn't you be up in arms throwing a hissy fit? Oh, and Ms. Dowd, your information is wrong, of the three you listed, FHM is the only British one. (But you work for the NYT, so errors like that are acceptable). It's tough for the wholesome to know where to draw the line against the racy. F.A.O. Schwarz is still displaying Lingerie Barbies wearing merry widow bustiers, peekaboo peignoirs, black satin bra and panties with pale blue bows, stockings and garters. I still think FAO Schwartz (while very over priced) is a kick-ass toy store. I was unaware of such Barbies being sold (and why are they being sold? Aren't there enough models already?) Except for Lingerie Barbie No. 6 as opposed to the other numbers? There were so many protests from parents about "Porn Barbie," as one L.A. dad dubs her, with her waist-length red hair, silver satin teddy with black lace trim, textured stockings with black seams, black bondage stilettos and black "soft ribbons to gently hold your Barbie doll," as an ownership manual puts it, that many of the toy store branches decided to hide her behind the counter and admit her existence only if a customer requests her by number. Interesting design for barbie....and since when did dolls come with manuals? (Unless they were transformers, in which case you needed to know how to transform 'em). Okay Dowd, do you actually have a point today? "I really don't want the experience of looking at a Maxim cover and shopping with my 2-year-old for a Wiggly Worm to be the same," said one creeped-out dad. This deals with Barbie because...? Well, here's a solution--don't look at the Maxim cover! Or put Maxim and others on the top shelf, where the images are blocked (but the name is still visible). Good idea? And why don't you want to look at the cover of Maxim? Is Cosmo any better? Still, it's funny that Wal-Mart decided to censor laddie magazines Laddie? Who says laddie over here?!?! We're in the US Dowd, not on the other side of the pond. We call 'em "Men's Magazines" here. M-E-N...got it? the very same week the Bush administration soared with laddie politics. Tin foil hat alert! And what the hell are "laddie politics"? Did we make another deal with Blair? Otherwise, we don't use the word laddie in this country. Kapish? The fabulously successful British glossies were inspired by the American "guy culture" of "Top Gun," "Animal House" and "Cheers." Two of the publications are AMERICAN! They're made in NYC! And "Top Gun" was a good movie--especially all the airplanes. Animal House is a classic, hillarious movie. Cheers was a classic TV show too. What's your point Dowd? Don't forget, "we didn't give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor" The hormonal graphics and absence of erudition were designed to appeal to what one media expert called "high-tech cave men." Trying to impress us with big words and terminology...I see what you're up to. You think men are "cave men"--well then, you're a damn ignorant sexist bitch Dowd. Believe it or not, Maxim is popular both among Guys and Gals (the girls in my suite this year all read it). And many of us who've read these mags are anything but neanderthals. Perhaps you missed the issue with all the pix of military men stationed overseas (or in air) posing with Maxim--go tell them that they're "cave men". I'd like to see the result. The May Maxim offers a "Wingman Training Manual" for "trolling for the ladies": "What kind of friend are you? Would you lie like a rug, fight like a man, and willingly take home a clock-stopper for the sake of a pal?" You obviously didn't read the article. It is tounge-in-cheek humor; and it's about picking up girls and such. Just go look at any women's mag, and tell me that there aren't similar articles? The magazines represent the most extraordinary collection of testosterone, of crank-it-up, raging-rhinoceros attitude ever I believe the word is Machisimo. It's a magazine targeted towards MEN--therefore, they must be doing well, no? with the exception of when Rummy dines alone Woah! You insulted the SECDEF! No one takes cheap shots at Rummy like that. At least he has some cojones unlike you and Raines (and others at the NYT). I think we're gonna have to have Bill the Marine pay you a visit. The Republicans have been exuding that self-satisfied air of masculine conquest Here comes the idiotarian drivel. Notice the fact that she's managed to excluse the female members of the GOP. that Maxim bravado of "If it doesn't come with a side of meat, it ain't breakfast," Heh. That's a good one. and "Drinking a diet soda doesn't make you gay, but it does make you look gay." That one isn't funny Dowd...nice job making it up (following along in Jayson Blair's footsteps of falsifying). And the Democrats have been flailing against it Yeah, they've been doing that, and shootin' themselves in the foot (politically) at the same time. harping on the cost of President Maverick's "Op Gun" moment that forced an aircraft carrier to make lazy circles so the California coastline wouldn't pop up behind his head Wa..wa...wa...cry me a river Maureen. First off, it's President Bush's visit to the troops aboard the USS Lincon. The Men and women who were at sea for 10 months defending this nation. Here's the story about the boat's position. Second, look at what the sailors (and crew) of the boat thought about the President's visit Furthermore, if I'm not mistaken, the landing (via plane) was actually cheaper than taking a chopper out. Case closed. The White House admitted that its original stated reason for using the Viking jet instead of the presidential helicopter — that the ship was too far offshore — was bogus. Wrong again Dowd! Again, I refer you to this letter. I'm detecting sour grapes, is anyone else? The real reason for the stunt was that the president wanted to have fun and film a campaign ad. Wrong again. It was NOT A STUNT you idiotarian. Granted, it was a great photo-op and may help him come 2004 time, but that wasn't a primary focus. Lisa Schiffren, a Quayle speechwriter who wrote the "Murphy Brown" rant, gushed in a Wall Street Journal piece entitled "Hey, Flyboy" that President Bush in a flight suit was "really hot . . . as in virile, sexy and powerful." For obvious reasons, we're gonna leave this one to the women to discuss. But Imperial Reseacher Oki had expressed similar sentiments in the LC Chatroom, so we'll trust her instincts. She polled her soccer-mom girlfriends in Manhattan and got the same reaction. "He's a hottie," said one. "Hot? SO HOT!!!!! THAT UNIFORM!" said another. And a third panted, "That swagger. George Bush in a pair of jeans is a treat to watch." Again, we defer this one to the women. I don't think any of the polled women were WH Interns. (If it gets any hotter, Wal-Mart may have to ban The Journal.) What about the other mags? And why don't they ban the NYT for lying? From facing off with Anita Hill and Al Gore, Republicans know America prefers winning, even under dubious pretenses, to whining. We're number 1! #1!!!!! Yeah America! We are the BEST! We are not losers--we're winners!!!! And Dowd is right, Republicans know that. It's sort of like when Bin Laden said (I can't believe I'm quoting him): "when people see a strong horse and a weak horse, they tend to like the strong one". Well, in this case the GOP is the strong horse, and the people like it!!! As for Gore, what's he up to now? Did he shave his beard? Anita Hill on the other hand, is now a Professor at Brandeis (sigh), but in the Grad School. Back to extolling America and her superiority with jingoism: We're number #1! The Democrats never had the nerve to press the administration on the right stuff Define "right stuff"...it is true though that the dems are just yanking out pointless, frivelous things. the Bushies exploited 9/11 to hype the case against Saddam No. 9/11 changed the way many Americans have come to view things in a different light. Need I say more? or when the president and vice president cloaked themselves in the mantle of Caesar What are you smoking lady? In the mantle of Caesar? What did they do, have a toga party? (That would fit the Animal House theme). with their pre-emption policy Okay Dowd, would you rather we be attacked again before we take action? Huh? There was a clear and present danger, and we called Saddam's bluff, took him down, and made Iraq a better place. (That's the short and sweet version). or when the Bush crowd kept all its empire plans secret Anyone see any "empire plans"? Were they in a VRWC memo I missed? By the way, what empire? or when Dick Cheney repaid the favor and gave Halliburton ever-bigger windfalls on Iraqi contracts You mean the fire-fighting ones, that could have reaped up to $7 mill (but in the end didn't, b/c there were fewer fires). Dowd, you also forget, that the Haliburton fire crews were already in the region....more efficient. So they carp about the president spending too much on a photo op, like a nagging wife upset that hubby went out with the guys and spent too much money on gadgets Yeah, the dems are screwing up big time. Even Ed Koch says so. It's the democrats own fault, not Bush or anyone else in the GOPs. And don't insult gadgets, they're cool. And why can women buy shoes and the man not be allowed to complain? They don't know how to combat the Bushies' visceral belief in action over explanation, juice over justification. Sour Grapes! I knew it! She's got sour grapes. There was an explanation, which 70%+ of Americans believed, and there was justification too (you really need some Clue). Even Thomas Friedman has said there was justification! Is leaving a dictator in power a better option? One who jails children? Kills so many mass graves are needed? I see justification. Open your eyes and you will too. The laddie ethos may be too much for Wal-Mart, but it suits Karl Rove just fine. Again, what's with this "laddie" crap? Were in America...that is unless you want to run off with George Galloway in the UK. Here it's men, and Wal-Mart will lose out on this, but the GOP will score points and ballots come election time--which is what counts in politics. Tuesday, May 13, 2003
It was about 50 deg. outside today, and it rained all day (hence the title of this post). Last time I looked at the calendar, it was May, no? Then again, this is Cleveland, so one never knows what to expect. Plus, my day was also quite yucky, as I got nothing done. Had a contact doctor appt. (where the doc was 30+min late), then had to go with mom and sister to the dressmaker to resolve her prom dress issues (it was torture I tell you--as for prom, it's this weekend, and I'll blog about that later on). Then came home, went to the JCC to swim. Came back home, took my sis to dance, went to the store, came home, ran another errand for mom, came home again (now it's 9pm) and finally I"m in for the night. So how many job leads did I get to persue today? (Ans: Zero)--which is why I'm somewhat more disgruntled than usual. But lots to blog about. Let's start with my other home town--Boston--where it appears the Globe may have also been hit by the same problem that the NYT has: the lying reporter!. This wouldn't suprise me that much, as I'm not much of a Globe fan (as usual readers may notice). It's ashame the person behind SillyGlobe is out of town right now, otherwise s/he'd be having a heyday with it. Jumping over to Israel related news....there was an interesting chat held amongst four Bloggers, and well, interesting is a good way to put it. I suggest reading the transcript of the chat and you'll see what I mean. (Note: Ben Shapiro is a bit overboard; while his ideas may work on paper, they'd never work in the real world). On the whole Israel topic, and in light of yesterday's announcement about my comment being featured in an anti-semite's article in the Toronto Star, guess who got nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize today? No, not the bulldozer (d'oh!) but rather Rachel "Corrugated Hippie Pancake" Corrie and the terror supporting ISM.. Am I suprised? No, not really, I mean look at the past recipients...but I'm still in favor of the bulldozer geting a nomination. And while over in the ME, Instapundit links to this story about how now the anti-war crowd who kept clamoring for "sanctions to be lifted" has tied itself into a pretzel. Go see! There was a somewhat disheartening report put out today, Rights group: hatred of Jews at highest level since WWII. This is just depressing--no, seriously. Has society not learned anything from the past? Why is there so much ignorance? In my eyes, if we want to play the finger-poinitng game, here in America college campuses are breeding grounds for anti-semitism. Just look at what faculty are teaching (should I say preaching?) to their students! (in many cases brainwashing them)!!! This is all at the same time that Racism, sexism, etc. are being decried (as they should be) but why is anti-semitism okay?!? It's not okay in my book, and a message to any anti-semites out there, don't mess with me. In other news, a sad, albeit possible Darwin Award candidacy event occured at one of my favorite museums, the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry [my dad's family is from Chicago, so when i was little, when we used to go there, my dad would always take me to this museum--so I grew up liking it a lot.] The museum has all sorts of cool stuff, from the cut-up-person exhibit, to the former German sub on display...but I'll leave you with the Amish Tech Support report on what happened. More details are coming out about the CWRU (Case Western) shooting incident. Apparently the shooterw as really off the deep-end, as he (literally) was a member of the tin foil brigades (he covered the windows of his house in tin foil). He apparently was also planning on killing, as the Plain Dealer said he used hollow point bulletts as ammo (yikes!). One interesting thing is that when the Cleveland SWAT team was called in (Note: Case Western is located in "University Circle", which has it's own PD, but since University circle is so small (a few blocks), it doesn't have a SWAT team, so Cleveland's team was right next door).] The Cleveland PD SWAT Team was actually in the middle of bulding take-down training excercises (coincidence?). However, the PD was working on a wearhouse, and the Peter B. Lewis Building (where this all took place) doesn't really have any right-angles on it, so it made things very difficult for the cops. It gave the crazed shooter the advantage (tactically), because of the unique design (quite nice architecture). The suspect has been charged with 1 count Aggravated Murder (that's a capital crime), and two counts of attempted aggravated murder. For more on this story, the Plain Dealer has a chronicle of all the stories on this issue located here. The Democrats are still complaining about President Bush's appearance on the USS Lincon (why, I dunno). But over at NRO, Rod Dehrer got a letter from a naval officer telling the true story and there's this story about the sailors' (on the ship) reaction to the CINC visiting And Drudge also shows this picture of Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) in a flight suit next to a plane. In other words, can we let this issue fade away already? There was more I wanted to mention, but I'm drawing blank now....sigh...perhaps I'll remember tomorrow. I hope to get out and hit the pavement on a job hunt as well...wish me luck! (Both getting out of the house and job hunting) Monday, May 12, 2003
Back in Cleveland after traversing the Buckeye state today. Went from Columbus to Youngstown (to visit G'ma and G'mpa for Mothers day) and then came back here to Cleveland. The Bar Mitzvah was nice, and I had a fun time visiting my friend at OSU...but I'll blog more about those later; as I have to get up and get my lil' brother to school tomorrow at 7:30AM (Note: I'm not a morning person, and we don't have any coffee here)! So I'm obviously very, very very behind in the blogsphere...I'm sure I missed an abundance of good stuff too. Oh well, that's life. But I'll blog on some things anyway... I'm gonna start with Israel related Blogging. First off, look at the post I just contributed to IsraPundit:US Asst. Sec. State Burns criticizes Israel supporters in US. I'm trying to withold my anger from this one...counting to ten...not working....all I can say is the state dept needs reformed now! No ifs ands or buts! Second, Israel has decided to deport another
But that wasn't in the blog itself, it was actually in the comments section, and was left by everyone's favorite hispanic-Jew, anti-idiotarian neuroscience major. =) (Thanks to Dr. J for pointing this out! And my appologies for any trolls who are hate mailing you over my comments). To wrap up the Israel blogging part, here's the transcript of a debate between Daniel Pipes and Martin Indyk (Hat tip: LGF) So going to domestic stuff, as said before, Idiotarians rarely cite their sources. Case in point? The NY Times, who now has a scandal of its own! (Good, it's about time, not that I really trusted the paper much to begin with). Faking stories is only the tip of the iceberg, look at their Israel coverage. From Instapundit: Enviromentalists (trans. Eco-wackos) are responsible for the deaths of millions of Third World people. Duh! Stupid eco-wackos... As for the CWRU shooting that happened Friday, I haven't been in town to hear much about it, but the Volokh conspiracy has been all over information on the shooter. RWN has a great big on a Castro-appologizing leftist idiotarian extrordinaire, Ed Asner, (who claimed the 2002 elections wern't democratic) Finally, the UN has again managed to sink even lower, but Emperor Misha I fisks 'em good. I've gotta go out job hunting tomorrow (wish me luck! I need it, especially with such a crummy local economy here in NE Ohio). Damn you stupid Cleveland administrators!! (That's another can-o-worms). Now to bed for an uber-early wake up |
